For many years I have kept this blog and my writing business separate. As you all know, this blog is where I post about things the Lord has shown me in Scripture, things I've learned in my walk with Him, End Times prophetic signs happening now, and warnings to the Church! But recently, after a discussion with another writer friend, she challenged me on keeping my two ministries separate. In essence, my books are a huge part of my ministry and connect deeply with my blog posts. If you haven't yet read any of my books, you should know that I do not shy away from bringing all glory to Jesus in my stories. Most of my novels contain miracles, healings, and spiritual warfare, along with great salvation stories. My characters reflect my own journey with the Lord and their spiritual growth during the books is a great witness to anyone reading it. I've had people contact me saying they got saved after reading one of my books, and many others who have said the stories brought them closer to Jesus. All glory to God! He is the one writing these stories through me.
Yes, the books are romances, but that's not all they are. Besides, Jesus is a romantic. The entire Bible is a romance between Him and His Bride! You see, long ago, when I first got published, I made a commitment to the Lord to always keep Him at the center of each book. This has cost me in my writing career, because publishers prefer a Christian book that is toned down on the spiritual stuff. In fact, most Christian novels nowadays barely, if ever, mention Jesus. I could have toned down my message and probably sold a lot more books, got a lot more contracts, etc.. but I refused. I'm not tooting my own horn at all. It really wasn't a hard decision for me at all. Jesus is my world and if my books don't reflect that, then I'm a fake.
Having said all of that, I'm going to start promoting my writing here on the blog. Not often. I will keep it mostly about Scripture and End times Warnings. So without further ado, I have a book releasing today! Each novel takes me about 8-9 months of hard work to write and publish, so it is no little task. Let me introduce you to the two main characters. See if there's something in their journey that may help you in yours! And if the book interests, you, please order a copy.
Desi Starr - Heroine
Desi lives in Miami, Florida in the present time where she runs a Scuba and Shipwreck business inherited from her eccentric grandfather. An old journal passed down through generations reveals secret mysteries of a Privateer, The Sentinel, that sank off the coast of Florida in 1718. Desi was raised as a Christian by her parents, but after her father was lost at sea and her mother died shortly afterward, she and her sister were left to fend for themselves under the care of a crazy grandfather. Later when Desi's sister was diagnosed with liver disease, Desi gave up on God. Either He hated her or He didn't exist. Desi's journey is a struggle to believe that God cares, a struggle to believe that He answers prayers, a struggle to release control of her own life and decisions and trust Him again.
Captain Caleb HydeCaleb, grandson of the infamous Captain Merrick Hyde, hails from a sea-faring family of strong faith. He is tasked with tossing the Ring of Solomon into the deep sea at a certain location where its power will be lost forever and out of the reach of unscrupulous men. Caleb carries a heavy burden of guilt from a past failure where many lives were lost. He blames himself for the tragedy and for an infatuation with a woman who distracted him from his mission. He struggles with receiving forgiveness from God and from himself and longs to make up for his mistake. The Ring of Solomon can give him the power he needs to overcome evil and prove to his family and God that he is worthy of their trust. Caleb's journey is one we all face from time to time. Where do we put our trust? In a job, money, beauty, position, intelligence? What do we rely on besides God to help us get where we want to be? Caleb must choose between using the power of the Ring or letting it go and trusting Almighty God.
If you can relate at all to the journeys of these characters, the book might bless and encourage you.

CONGRATULATIONS!! I’m celebrating with you for all your hard work on this beauty of a book. I met Caleb’s grandfather in The Redemption in 2012 and became an immediate fan. La-la-LOVED the AI scenes you created and shared in your newsletter. As if I wasn’t chomping at the bit to read before….. this only whet my appetite even more. I believe your book writing ministry is just as important as your watcher ministry and am happy to see you sharing both. Happy Release Day!!
ReplyDeleteThank you, Amy!! Yes, hard to believe The Redemption was published 20 years ago! Thank you for being with me all that time!
DeleteCongrats Marylu on the new book release day. Love hearing about your writing as much as reading the blog no reason to make them separate. Pam
ReplyDeleteThank you so much, Pam!
DeleteHello Sister in Christ,
ReplyDeleteCongratulations on the release of your new book! Even though I had not read your past books, I already sensed from reading your blog posts that your natural gift for writing came from God! Moreover, keep up with incorporating Christian themes since people have come to be saved through your books, and do not let the opinions or suggestions of any publishers or critics discourage you from spreading God’s Word and love in the form of novels.
Based on the plot line, I feel the novel has a blend of Pirates of the Caribbean (Caleb and Desi give the Orlando Bloom & Keira Knightley vibe as Will Turner & Elizabeth Swann) and Lord of The Rings with the disposal of the Ring of Solomon (Frodo destroying the Ring of the Dark Lord Sauron). These must be a couple of your favorite movies? Nonetheless, the theme is centralized around Jesus, which I feel has godly meaning and that may explain why some people felt longing for God after finishing your novels?
One thing I am particularly proud of lately is that I made another attempt to tell my spouse about Christ, and this time, rather than changing the subject, she actually took it to heart and listened, even asked some questions along the way. I praised God for this, for I have been praying constantly and I believe this may be God’s answer in the early stages. I told God that I am just a messenger of His Word, and that He will carry out the conversion to its completion. I hope that she will remain this way and further seek the Lord and not fall away or become lukewarm, and I also prayed that God will complete this miracle prior to the Rapture. Praise the Lord always!
I heard there was a Red Crescent moon this morning, and even though I was not able to see it, first thing came to my mind was that red moons are significant symbols for Israel, and since the next blood moon will be on March 3, which is also Purim, I was wondering if it is another sign from the Lord about what to anticipate this year. What are your thoughts Sister?
Congrats again on the release of your latest book, which I am sure will continue to bring people to the Lord as your past novels have. Peace and Blessings from a Brother in Christ.
Greetings Brother! Yes.. Pirates of the Caribbean and Lord of the Rings are definitely up there among my favorite movies. That's wonderful news about your wife!!! The Lord is working on her heart. We never know what He is doing behind the scenes. I will pray for her!
DeleteRegarding red crescent moon, I have no idea. We know that God places signs in the sky so we just keep aware of them and pray for discernment. One day in heaven we will understand all these signs and how beautifully orchestrated God's plan unfolded! You may be interested in one particular series I wrote. Guardians of the Saints. It's 3 books set in modern times about the rapture, Tribulation and 2nd coming. I was thinking your wife might enjoy them and they definitely contain the Gospel. Check them out on Amazon. If you think your wife would read the first one, When Angels Cry, I'm happy to send you a free paperback. Blessings!
I pre-ordered the book before the release date. I love all of your books. Whenever you have something coming out, I know I will want to read it. I have never been disappointed. I absolutely appreciate the fact that somewhere in each book one character will explain the plan of salvation to another. Somebody totally unchurched and lost who reads one of your books would be able to understand Who Jesus is and how to accept him as Savior. Your books are always a great read but they are also a ministry. Any money you could have made by better or different contracts will not compare to seeing souls in heaven who got saved after reading your books. I am believing there will be a harvest. What could be better than hearing Jesus say well done good and faithful servant? Yourc books are a great witness as well as being wonderful and entertaining. I appreciate you so much.
ReplyDeleteWow. Your comment brought tears to my eyes. Thank you. That's why I write... to lead people to Jesus! And believe it or not, hearing Jesus say "Well done, good and faithful servant" is what I live for. I only want to please Him. Thank you so much! Blessings!
DeleteGreeting Precious scribe to the King,
ReplyDeleteSister I was deeply impressed with the way you interwove The story and the scripture in When Angels cry. I told you then I thought it not only a beautiful story that told how one was redeemed and the consequences when another turns away. That is the full version of the Gospel ! I also thought the book carried a prophetic message.
I know your heart Sister, your great love for the Lord and His truth. I know you dont compromise.
Colossians 3: 22 Slaves, obey your earthly masters in everything, not only to please them while they are watching, but with sincerity of heart and fear of the Lord.
23 Whatever you do, work at it with your whole being, as for the Lord and not for men, 24because you know that you will receive an inheritance from the Lord as your reward. It is the Lord Christ you are serving.
Call me sappy, but I teared up just reading the introduction to the new book :)
Christ's peace Sister
Thank you for saying that, Brother Joe. Means a lot. I take no credit for those angel books, the Holy Spirit was all over me during the writing. Lord, use me in whatever way you can!! that's my prayer. And I know its yours too!
