The world system vs. God

Have you noticed lately that not only is our present culture drifting farther and farther away from God but it seems to be saying and espousing things that are in direct opposition to what God says. I've formulated a list below. See what you think.


 
  • The world says it's all about you.   God says it's all about Him
  • The world says elevate yourself.    God says to put others ahead of yourself
  • The world says grab as much power as you can.  God says be a servant
  • The world says eat, drink, and be merry for this is all there is.  God says you are an eternal being so be wise with your time
  • The world says the ends justify the means. God says the means will be judged at the end.
  • The world says outward beauty is everything. God says those with inner beauty will shine at the end.
  • The world says gather as many things as you can. God says only your treasure in heaven will last.
  • The world says death is the end. God says death is only the beginning.
  • The world says truth is relative. God says I am the truth
  • The world says man is good at heart. God says the heart of man is wicked all the time.
  • The world says there are many pathways to heaven. Jesus says No man gets to the Father, but through Me.
  • The world says to be tolerant. God says to call evil, evil.
  • The world says it's all about personal happiness. God says it's all about personal sacrifice.
  • The world says it's better to receive. God says it's better to give.


Do not love the world or anything in the world. If anyone loves the world, love for the Father is not in them.  For everything in the world—the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life—comes not from the Father but from the world.The world and its desires pass away, but whoever does the will of God lives forever. 1 John 2:15
 

Incredible list, huh?  Can you think of any to add?

    "Morning, MaryLu."
    First ... I trust that you and your family are alive and well, and, made it home safely ... yes/no ??? Hope you had a wonderful time away.
    "The world system -- vs. God" ... is night and day ! Yes, I totally agree with your entire list.
    One more to add that came to my mind: You know how often mankind (including my own self in this) ... goes around making the remark: "Oh ... you're good !" Or ... "Oh ... I'm good !" The Bible clearly states that: "ONLY God is good" !!! There is nothing good about or in us. We have nothing to be bragging about within our own selves.
    And ... a second one just popped into my mind: The world says - Get your revenge, pay back evil with evil. God says - "Love your enemies; do good unto those who hate you." And, "Vengence is Mine, saith the Lord, I will repay."
    Wow ... the World's standards sure don't measure up to God's standards !!!

    I can't think of any to add to your list right now, but I am sure there are a lot more to add.

    Hi Ladies! I'm back! Tired and now cleaning the house and doing laundry.. but home safe. Had a wonderful time and I will tell you all about it on Friday. Including pictures!!

    Totallly agree with everything you said.

    Someone jokingly called me a "rebel," well he was using sarcasm. I refuse to participate in some coversations and things that are against God that all the teenagers love to do. I just walked away, didn't fight.
    I thought a lot about it and it made me think, wait a second. I am a rebel because I refuse to do what this world is doing. I say the true rebels are the Christians--we go against the world.

    I agree with everything on that list! Its very true, the world says the opposite of what God says. There are so many examples of that in the world. The one that always comes to mind is gorgeous models who still get their pictures "fixed" to look "more beautiful". I do not like it how the world has a definition on beauty. What the world thinks of beauty is just an opinion. Gods opinion is the one that matters! Great post.
