Preview of next book cover

Well, if you got my newsletter yesterday, you've already seen this awesome new cover. This is for the book I'm CURRENTLY writing entitled, Surrender the Night. Without giving too much of the story away, I've posted a very brief description.  Thoughts on the cover?

When Rose McGuire nurses a wounded British Naval officer back to health in the barn on her Baltimore farm, she hardly expected to fall in love with him, especially since his countrymen murdered her father. Nor did she expect, after their profession of love, that she would meet him again as enemies when British troops invaded Washington DC in an attempt to burn the American capital to the ground.

  9. I LOVE IT ALL! Wow, i am so excited now! This cover is amazing and the description, yet brief, sounds like the story will be a wonderful one. I can not wait for it, but i would like to know more about the first book. When will you do a chapter tease?

Also, if it is okay that i am asking, who does your covers? Designing covers for books has become very interesting to me. I wonder, maybe it is God telling me to go for it. I love all the covers of your books.

  10. I love the front cover. if I was going to read a book based on the cover alone...well, I'd go out and purchase this today if I could :) :) The girl who modelled for this photo kind of reminds me of Julianne Hough from DAncing with the Stars. I can't quite place who else she reminds me of..but a great photo :) :) :)

  11. I know I'll love this, just by the cover. It is fascinating.
This might sound rude (I don't mean it that way), but she looks haunting. The mixture of her eyes and hair, I think.

  12. Sorry I didn't get to see this on Friday. It does look like a very interesting cover. Not a lot of fiction has been written about this time period especially as it relates to the U.S. so you may have found a new niche. I too would love to know who does the covers and how the process goes.

  14. I don't know if you're still reading these comments, but if you are, I have a question about your newsletter.
You mention other books by other authors.
If you were to rate the book, The Pirate and the Puritan, as if it were a movie, what would you give it?

  15. Tori, I will do a chapter tease in July! As well as give away several free copies of the book. As far as who does my covers, my publisher hires freelance artists to create the covers based on the storyline. Other than that, I don't know anything else about the process except that they do use live models. I'm sure they pay a pretty penny for it. The only input I have is in the beginning. My publisher asks me for descriptions of the main characters and my "idea" for the cover. After that, I don't get any say, especially after they shoot the picture.
Abigail, I agree, the heroine does have a haunting look about her. Very intense. And I don't think that's rude at all.
And yes, Austin, too much eyeliner!!
As far as what I would rate The Pirate and the Puritan. Humm.. out of 5 stars, I'd give it a 4. If you liked my pirate series, I think you'll enjoy this book.
    Hugs everyone!

  16. Thank you for telling me that. I didnt know that they used real live models. What they just pick up anyone off the street and take their picture so that they got their features as a reference? Maybe i should just talk to a publisher about it, i am so interested. lol.

Can not wait for your book this summer!! God Bless you!!
