Is there a revival on the horizon for America?

Over the weekend, talk show host Glenn Beck held a rally in Washington DC at the Lincoln Memorial. I wanted to attend this rally so badly but coming from California, finances just weren't there. Whatever you think of Glenn Beck, if you've ever taken time to listen to his message, you might be shocked to discover that it is only the simple message of turning this nation back to God. That was the entire purpose of this rally, to remind people of our great history, of what our founding fathers fought so ardently to achieve, and to get back to that strong foundation that was laid upon the Bible and Jesus Christ. Like Beck, I see no other solution to the problems of this nation. We have created a HUGE mess of our own doing. We are deep in the well of despair, discouragement, violence, financial collapse, rampant crime and immorality and depression and it's only getting deeper. The only way out is to look up! No matter what anyone says, this nation is a Christian Nation. If you don't believe me, do your homework and seek out original texts and sources written in our founding father's own words. The history you learned in school has been watered down and filtered through a liberal sieve. A good place to start is Dave Barton's http://www.wallbuilders.com/

Over 100,000 people attended this rally. I've only seen clips of it so far but intend to watch it on Glenn's site. These people came with their kids and their hope and their faith and their love of country and stood with Glenn to plead with Almighty God for His Forgiveness and ask for His help to heal our land and make America once again the shining city on the hill.  If we lose our freedom like those in Washington are trying to do, then who will be the champion for freedom around the world? Who will be the country first to any disaster with supplies and humanitarian aid? Who will be the country who will send out more missionaries than any other country? What country will people scramble to become citizens of because here in America, we are free?

I sense something changing in the Spiritual realm and it is a good thing. In my 51 years, I've never seen such a grand rally centered around returning to God in Washington DC. Never. Preaches and priests and pastors and rabbis are started to take a stand. Some are crawling out of their church dungeons and once again preaching the truth. They are sick of being told they cannot talk about politics from the pulpit. Did you know that before the American Revolution, it was the preachers who got the people stirred up to revolt? Preachers talked about government all the time from their pulpits and were heavily involved in, not only the war, but in forming the Declaration and the Constitution. Now, our pastors are told they can't encourage voters to vote a certain way or they'll lose their tax-exempt status. Really? If that is true than why did our country's preachers continue to preach about politics from the pulpit long after our nation was formed?  Why are we lying down and taking this? If Thomas Jefferson wanted separation of church and state so much (which by the way is only found in one of his letters and nowhere in the Constitution) then why was he one of the regular attendees at the church service held INSIDE the Capitol building each Sunday?

We are at a crossroads. Whether you're just  a teenager or a grandmother, and whether you have an interest in politics or not, I ask you to get on your knees at least once a day and repent of your sins, and ask Him to heal America--to make her what she once was. One Nation, under God. Indivisible. With Liberty and Justice for All!   If not, the America you know today may not be the America you'll find yourself  in, in 20 years. And believe me it won't be pretty.  Then go out and do something. Educate yourself and discuss issues with your friends. Start a History of America club at your school or library. Read what he founding Father's actually said! Tell your friends. And when the time comes, vote. But most of all pray.

If my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then will I hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and will heal their land 2 Chron 7:14

  1. Oh I wish I could've been at this rally too! I am looking forward to watching more clips of it online.

  2. It is so inspiring to see this! I heard that the Supreme Court actually said that the National Day of Prayer was unconstitutional! I'd never thought I would hear that! If that is not a wake up call to Christian Americans, then I don't know what is...

I didn't see that whole speech, just pieces so far. I did catch his interview at the end, though. He was asked if he feels he has a role in saving this country. His response: You don't? We all share in the responsibility of trying to save this country. Whether in our own home, our neighborhood, across our country or worldwide. We each have a calling and we need to be in prayer, asking the Lord what He wants us to do in our lives. God bless America!

  4. Thanks for your comments, Ladies! We have to make a stand for God and for Freedom in our country or one day we may wake up and find it all gone. I heard that about the National day of Prayer, Eszter. It's like these people haven't read the words of the founding fathers or even know the history of our great nation! I'm appauled.

  5. I so wish I could have been there, but we couldn't afford it, either. I'll definitely have to watch it online - just from the snippets I've heard from you and others, I can tell that it must have been a truly inspiring event. Despite that the Christians who are willing to make a difference are the minority, I believe that we CAN turn this country around, and make this a generation that seeks God's face.

Matthew 9:37-38 "Then He said to His disciples, 'The harvest is plentiful, but the workers are few. Therefore beseech the Lord of the harvest to send out workers into His harvest.'"

  6. Monday, Aug 30th,
Thanks so much MaryLu, once again .... for sharing this MOST important and vital message. As you know, I live in Canada ... and Canada NEEDS this same message too ! We were "founded" on Christian principles .... but you'd hardly recognize any of those principles, today !
My Pastor is often quoting the verse you shared from 2nd Chron 7:14 ... "IF My people, who are called by My name, will humble themselves and pray ...." I absolutely love and appreciate this verse so very much ! Notice, that God starts off with --"IF" ... we have the choice ! And my choice -- as both a Mother, and, as a GrandMother ... is to "seek His face, and pray ..."
May God forgive us for "all" of our sins !!! Oh, how our lands "need" His healing touch !!! (I'm going to try to find Glenn Beck's message, too.)
    Thanks again, MaryLu !
    Take care, and, God Bless,
    In Him, Brenda Hurley

  7. Actually MaryLu, we're a "nation of Christians and Muslims...non-believers...," HA! What a great president we have! =[
No really, though I LOVE this post!
    AMEN!!!!
I'm not as far west as California, but far enough that I couldn't go. I DO wish I could have gone I was thinking they must have gotten goose bumps; I did just seeing a couple small clips on Beck’s program tonight.
As I read through your post my vision slowly began to blur, I was crying! Something just comes over me when I hear people saying all the right things about this country instead of the trash shoved down our throats by our fearless leaders: One nation under GOD! Without God, we’re nothing! I love it.
In God we trust! God bless,
    ~Abigail =D

  8. I too believe if enough of us get on our knees, we can turn this country around. I believe this is our last chance. I know things are even worse in Cananda. Sorry Brenda. Also, ladies, check out Glenn Beck's website. He may have some excerpts from his speech. I am one of his Extreme members (I pay $9 a month) so I can see the entire speech online. It's worth it because I'm also attending Beck university where I'm learning alot about our history.
Yes. Abigail.. oh yea. I forgot, our lovely pres says we're not a Christian nation anymore.
    Little does he know!

  9. The church I attend is located near a military base, so a lot of the members are in the military. At least twice a year, usually Memorial Day and July 4th, a lot of those members wear their dress uniforms, and a color guard posts the American flag and the Christian flag. There is much evil in our country, and they want to take us down and trample us so far into the ground that we can't get back up. But on those days at my church, and when I hear about events like this, I remember all the good people in America, who believe in the freedom she represents, and my heart swells with pride for what she really represents, regardless what SOME people may say or do. And every time, I want to do my part in helping to keep America strong, free, and true to the principles she was founded on.

Sorry this has been a bit wordy, but to those who want to hurt my country, I've got just four words: "Don't Tread On Me."

    ~Sasafras

  10. I totally agree with you, MaryLu! I was pondering things just yesterday and trying to form my thoughts into words. If we the people had been more faithful in our pursuit of God and His kingdom, I don't think we would be where we are today. Everyday becomes scarier than the day before. I trust God to know what He's doing, but I also plead for Him to be merciful and help us wage this war against His enemies who are doing everything they can to overthrow us. While Tiny Tim says, "God bless us every one." I will up that by saying, "God help us every one."

  11. Yes, Sasafras, thank God there are still good, Godly people here in this country. Now, we just need to stand up for what we believe in.! We have idly sat by while our enemies have torn God from our schools and government, and we are paying the price.
Yes, Linnette, I know God will help us! But we must submit to Him, humble ourselves and get on our knees!

  13. My husband like to watch Glenn so I guess I watch him also and I am with him all the way if what he stands for is to get out nation back to God. Our young people can't have anything to do with the Bible on their clothes or say a prayer in school but they can have all those tatoos and body percings that I really hate to see on their young bodies. We all need to pray that the US does turn back to God IF WE DON"T then I am afraid of what is going to happen to us. I hope God returns and takes all His children home, He will get tired of this mess one of these days as He did in the days of Noah.

  14. Yes, Edna, I agree. We are very close to the last days as evident by the wickedness around us. God is only waiting for all His children to come into the fold. Then. Bam.. We're out of here! I can't wait.
