  2. Fri Feb 18th,
    "Morning, MaryLu".
First off, "Congratulations" to Lisa !!!
MaryLu ... truthfully, with or without the "trailer" ... I would want to read your book !!! Your style of writing just appeals to me greatly ! (In fact, I am "re-reading" -- "Surrender the Heart" (for a second time now) ... just to refresh my memory with the story and characters.)
I enjoyed all of the pictures ... still and moving ones -- capturing this new story. MaryLu ... I don't want to hurt your feelings or anything (because you said you were "thrilled with the outcome") ... but once again, I am not fond of the announcer's voice. It didn't sound -- commanding, sincere, dramatic, gut-level enough (at least, not to me anyway). It was hard to 'grasp' the seriousness of the mood/setting, because I couldn't get "the correct feel nor emotion" from the trailer announcer. (You see, MaryLu, -- I have this very unusual deep voice (for a woman) ... and always felt I missed my calling on radio, or something like that -- to be an 'announcer'. Methinks that "I" should come to California before the next book is released, and read the "trailer" for you ! Now just how rude and boastful is that !!!) I sincerely hope my comments do not offend you ... that is the last thing I would ever want to do !
Thanks for sharing this with us. And again, I am eagerly looking forward to reading "Surrender the Night" !!!
    Take care, and, God Bless,
    In Him, Brenda Hurley

  5. Good Morning MaryLu!
I loved the trailer, very exciting, but IMO (though that's not worth two pennies put together) the music made the trailer sound like a western adventure, rather than a high seas one. Either way, I can't wait for the book to come out! The cover is amazing and the story sounds like it's going to be fantastic. Of course, I love pirates (though, it seems there aren't that many in here) and American history, so I may be a bit bias. But, any book you've written, is sure to be an exciting romancetic adventure, thats worth reading more than twice.
    Love Ya,
    Ashley

  6. WOW, that is some video! I think my favorite might have been the beginning and end, when the book title came out like a movie title and then the cover transformed during the end. It's got me even more excited to read the story, sounds exciting!! :D

  7. Good day MaryLu!
    |Congrats to Lisa!

The trailler was just so suspensful especially the ending where rose will have to make a choice how will she find the strength to trust God?
i really enjoyed the part where she nurses a wounded soldgier back to health and they learn to trust ecah other and help each other even though their countries are at war with each other.
the expresssion love your enemies comes to mind! the way the trailler was made it made me transported back into the time and the events that took place i would not change anything and the ending made me want to read the book and to find out will rose and alex ever end up together even though that so many opstacles stand in their way?
i would not change anything the trailler is just perfect since you get the full picture of the events and the suspensfull ending you want to find what is happening next and how will it end!

  8. I really enjoyed the trailer! Usually I don't like book trailers, but this won is informative and intriguing!! It gives a good summery of the book without giving anything away! I particularly like end of the trailer when there is a close up shot of the book, then it zooms out to see the whole cover! :)

  9. Congrats to Lisa!
Now, I have to agree with Ashley, the music started out sounding like a western. It got better as it played. And I agree with Brenda about the woman who does the voice over. Have you ever considered having a man do the voice over? Or do you even have a choice?
That being said, I loved the trailer's pictures. It really makes the novel sound exciting. And like Brenda said, I would want to read your novels with or without a trailer. I, too, just finished reading 'Surrender the Heart' to prepare for this one. If it is okay with you, I can post some excerpts of 'Surrender the Night' on Facebook as well. Take care, Cap'n.

  10. Hey, MaryLu!
Thanks for sharing the trailer! I can't wait to read the book, but I have to agree with Brenda on this one.....it didn't make me want to read it more because I would be excited with or without it. And the narrator isn't my favorite either. I feel that having no narrator at all and just having the words there to read would make it more dramatic. Can't wait to get this book!

  11. Hello MaryLu,

The trailer did inspire me to read the book, although I was already excited to read it anyway lol...Still looking forward to Luke and Cassandra's too! I wish there were more pictures of Alexander Reed though in the trailer ha ha. Overall, I was impressed! Can't wait! Congratulations to Lisa!

  12. The video is fantastic. I'm still undecided about the voice-over...but having said, I still LOVE this video. I want to read the book. I can already imagine the relationship blossoming...and it's romantic, danger, adventure. I love your books, MaryLu...so I'd read them anyway :) : :) :) Love and hugs from Oregon, Heather :)

  13. Thanks everyone! Glad you liked it. I really have NO say in how it's made. In fact, my publisher does it for me for free and if I had it done elsewhere, it would cost several hundred dollars, so I try to not complain too much. :-) But having said that, I do agree about the Voice over. I can try and request that next time they use a more suspenseful voice. No offense taken! I asked for your comments. :-) And I think they were going for a more military type sound.
Anyway.. thanks for watching it and for all your kind comments!

  14. I don't know whether or not I'm late to post, but I'll do it anyway. :) I watched the trailer and I can't wait to get my hot little hands on this book so I can read it! I can just imagine how beautiful the cover looks- and how fast I'll read it. I loved getting to know how different Alex's and Rose's backgrounds were! The book sounds super interesting :)

  16. If we had never heard about this book before, the trailer would have intrigued us. We enjoyed the pictures, and the mood was suspenseful. Looks GREAT! We can't wait to read it!

  17. Love the trailer! It definitely intrigues me to read the book, and carries a real sense of adventure. The one thing I didn't like is that the music sounded a little too western to me at first, as a couple of other people mentioned. My favorite part was the video shots - it seems a lot more "professional" than just a slideshow. All around, a great trailer! :-)

  18. Hi MaryLu!
Congrats on your book ~ always such fun! I'm going to read it ~ with or without winning!

I'm not really a critical person, so I thought your book trailer was fine. :) I did my own trailer for my book, and I thought yours was better ~ so that encourages me to try a different one!

Thank you for the opportunity of the giveaway!

  19. MaryLu,

Wow! I WANT TO READ THE BOOK! :-) lol This instantly pulls you into what is happening and then leaves you hanging. I so enjoy watching book trailers.

I really didn't see anything wrong with it. Maybe the music - as some people have already said - but it wasn't that bad. I liked the narration with the trailer - neat-o!

Thanks for the chance to win!

  21. The American history buff in me loves the fact that this is a historical romance during the war of 1812. I am intrigued by the summary given in the trailer and can't wait to read it!

  25. I seriously love your books! The first book I read was The Redemption after getting it from the library, and I fell in love with your writing and the books and characters. I continued reading and now have read every single one of your books. I cannot wait for the next one, and the trailer was really neat! I agree with others that said that they would read the book even if there was no trailer. :) Can't wait to read it when it comes out!!

  28. Congrats Lisa, enjoy the book.
That was an awesome trailer! Thank you for sharing it, I really liked the music and the description. Unfortunately, the voice didn't sound right for the exciting adventure. You don't need to put me in the drawing because I just ordered Surrender the Night from amazon on monday. I couldn't wait any longer. I really want to read it!!
I hope you are well MaryLu and are having a good week. God Bless!
