My trip to Tennessee!

As some of you may know, I spent a week visiting my Mom and sister in Gatlinburg, Tenn last week. I try to get over there once a year and sometimes down to Florida where my brother lives. I hate being so far apart from family!!  How did I end up in California? Geezzz.. I can't remember.  Anyway, here's a few pictures of my trip.

The view off my Mom and Sis's back porch! They live in the woods. So Relaxing!

The View from their back window! I live in the big city so this is really cool for me to see!
My Sister and I throwing snowballs at each other!
We drove up into the Great Smoky Mountain National Park where it had snowed!
Winter wonderland!

We went to a Parrot Jungle. So much fun!
Lorikeets landing all over us!!!
Lunch in the Wild Plum Tea Room! The food was so good, I bought the Recipe book!
We went to the Gatlinburg Aquarium where I dove into a tank and began swimming!
This is a SawTooth Shark from below where we walked through the tank in a tunnel!
My sister's dog, "The Code Mister" or "The Codinator"
One of the best parts of the trip was when my brother flew up from Florida to surprise me!  I couldn't believe it when he walked through the door!

My Mom and her four children! She was in heaven!

Thanks for traveling along on my journey with me! God and Family are everything!

  1. Very nice MaryLu! I'm glad you were able to go visit with your family! Tennessee looks beautiful. We have friends who lived up here in Canada to work on contract for a few years, who were from Tennessee. They're back living there now, and we've always said how cool it would be to go down there and visit too. Maybe someday!

Love the pictures at the aquarium too ... you in the tank 'swimmming'. That's great! :)

    Have a great day!

  2. Tues Nov 13th,
    "Morning, MaryLu."
Loved seeing all of your Tennessee family photos and fun ....
Especially loved: the "view from the back window" -- so peaceful looking and pretty; "winter wonderland" - beautiful -- (my personal favourite ... it could be a postcard, it's that good); "parrot jungle" with the beautiful birds; the "Wild Plum Tea Room" -- with you, your Mom and sister; the "Gatlinburg Aquarium and you "swimming" (so to speak); and the "Sawtooth shark" --so cool !!!
Thanks so much for sharing with us -- all wonderful photos and great memories for you !
    Take care, and, God Bless,

P.S. - Caroline .... still no snow here (yet), but it's getting colder again.

  3. Hi there Brenda - not really much snow here either. Nothing that has stayed on the ground, although there was enough today for my girls to ambush me with a few snowballs. Hmmmmm. :)

  4. Hi Caroline and Brenda!!! It's always great to hear from you. I love it when you two talk back and forth. :-) Anyway, glad you enjoyed my pictures. I had such a good time!! Caroline, you should definitely go visit your friends.. you'd love it there.

Brenda.. yes.. that winter wonderland photo was so good, wasn't it? I had to crawl through knee deep snow down the sloping bank of that creek to get that shot.

NO snow in Canada, ladies? My goodness. what is going on? I actually love the snow but we don't get any here where I live. :-( It was nice to get a chance to play in it in Tenn.

    Hugs!

  8. MaryLu! It looks like you had a great time. Your Mom's back yard looks to be in a beautiful area. It looks so peaceful. I just knew you'd be dangerous, holding that BIG snowball. My brother does the same to me whenever he gets the opportunity. LOL! And I'll bet you felt like a real pirate with those gorgeous parrots sitting on your shoulder and arm. SO glad that you had a good time. Thanks for sharing your pics with us. :)

  9. Thank you, Emma!

Heather.. how cool! What part of Tenn? I was in Eastern Tenn by the Great Smoky Mts. So pretty!

Olivia, normally that part of Tenn doesn't get snow this early but this came from Sandy.. dropped several inches over night, but it all melted away in 2 days. :-(

Hi Angi! Oh yea.. that's me, armed and dangerous! If only my brother had been there when we went to the snow... he'd been in trouble! Thanks for dropping by. :-)

  10. Great pictures, MaryLu, but am I missing something? The last picture says 'My mom and her FOUR children'. Where is the fourth? Or is your mom so young at heart that she is considered one of the kids? Just teasing....thanks for sharing!

  11. Wed Nov 14th ...
Hey there Debbie .... I was wondering the very same thing too. I kept "re-counting" ... knowing I was missing "someone".
And, I too thought -- just maybe MaryLu's Mom was the 'fourth kid ... at heart'.

  13. Loved the pics! What a fun week.

I was going to ask about the "four kids" too, but I see others beat me to it. I thought maybe your mom was so hip that the motorcycle was the fourth kid! LOL

  14. Thanks Linda! That's it.. the motorcyle is the forth kid! LOL Actually I think I was thinking that we all were the original 4.. you know before we each got married and had kids of our own. :-)

  17. MaryLu. I loved looking at your pistures, and knowing the fun of being home again to visit with your mom and sister. Looks like you really enjoyed your time there. And, that your brother also came, unexpectedly to you. Great! I know the feeling of going home. We could only go home once a year, and sure looked forward to that time. Would have loved to have spent more time there, but wasn't possible. Now my folks are in Heaven, so no place to go. Maxie ( mac262@me.com )

  18. Maxie, thanks for dropping by! I did have an incredible time with my family in Tenn. Sounds like you understand how hard it is to be away from home and family. So sorry about your parents. They are in their final home and you will join them there some day. It will be such a glorious reunion! :-)
