The most impacting thing for me was the actual moment when Christians disappeared. I had never really thought about how people left behind would feel, but the way it was played out was heart-wrenching. Mothers screaming for their children, husbands for their wives, people dashing everywhere looking for their loved ones. Can you imagine the horror, the panic?
If you haven't seen this movie, please go! Whether you believe in the rapture or not, please go and support good Christian films like this one so they will make more!! Have you seen the junk Hollywood is putting out these days?
(It's the same thing with books and authors. If you want an author to keep writing good Christian books, then you need to BUY his or her book! Not borrow it or get it for free somewhere. But I digress)
Christians are all over the map on the Rapture. Some people believe in it, others don't. Those who do believe in it, argue over the timing. Churches have been split and friendships severed over whether they believed in a pre- mid- or post- tribulation rapture. Ridiculous! Can you imagine how very sad this makes God?
I've had a keen interest in this topic and in eschatology in general ever since I became a Christian. It was due to a prophecy in Ezekiel that I finally turned back to the Lord in my mid-30s so naturally prophecy became a passion of mine. Hence I've done a great deal of study on the rapture and I've come to the following conclusions:
- Yes, there will be a rapture where God rescues His children from the worst 7 years that will ever be experienced here on earth. (The Tribulation)
- This rapture will occur before the Tribulation
- We will not know the DAY or the HOUR, but we can know the season.
But you, brethren, are not in darkness, so that this Day should overtake you as a thief. You are all sons of light and sons of the day. We are not of the night nor of darkness. Therefore let us not sleep, as others do, but let us watch and be sober. 1 Thess 5:4-6
- The Rapture will occur before or at the same time the Anti-Christ is revealed. We Christians will be able to spot the Anti-Christ because in Daniel , we are told he makes a peace treaty with Israel for 7 years.
Let no one deceive you by any means; for that Day will not come unless the falling away comes first, and the man of sin is revealed, the son of perdition, who opposes and exalts himself above all that is called God or that is worshiped, so that he sits as God in the temple of God, showing himself that he is God. 2 Thess 2:3-4
Then he shall confirm a covenant with many for one week (7 years);
But in the middle of the weekHe shall bring an end to sacrifice and offering Daniel 9:27
But in the middle of the weekHe shall bring an end to sacrifice and offering Daniel 9:27
The Apostle Paul says this day will NOT come like a thief upon us like it will the rest of the world because we are children of the light. That coupled with many signs that Jesus gave us in Matthew 24 and Luke 21, and Paul's writing on the matter, I believe we can know when the time is getting close. Do I think we are close? Yes, I do. But whether close means 2 or 3 years or 20 I don't know. I do believe it will be in my lifetime.
I know many of you don't believe this. Some don't even believe in the rapture, others believe in a mid or post trib rapture and some (like my husband) believe the rapture could be hundreds of years away. That's fine. I respect your opinions. I truly do, and I don't wish to get into a theological argument on this blog. Or anywhere, actually, so please don't leave angry comments. In truth, it really doesn't matter in the end because if we are Christ followers, we'll all find out when we get to heaven!! And I doubt we will give it much thought then anyway.
"Now when these things begin to happen, look up and lift up your heads, because your redemption draws near.” Jesus, Luke 21:28

Very insightful blog post, MaryLu, and very well written. I haven't seen the new version of Left Behind, but I've seen the one with Kirk Cameron. It is a very good movie as well and yes, at the moment of the rapture it will be total chaos and heartbreak. Have a blessed week, my friend. Hugs!
ReplyDeleteWow, you said it so well. I haven't seen this one yet but hope to soon. Agree, those left behind will certainly be heartbroken as well as scared and devastated, at the lose of their loved ones.
ReplyDeleteBlessings,Tina
Way to go, Mary Lu. Courageous and well said.
ReplyDeleteMy husband and I saw the new movie and we loved it.
I don't think timing matters. All that matters is that God does not ignore the evil in the world, He is not letting it go unpunished, and He loves His children and will fight for them (with us fighting FOR him too). He wins the war.
ReplyDeleteWanna talk about drought ? CA had gotten .12% of it's average water.
ReplyDeleteAnd ISIS.....talk about a war on Christanity....
I find it hard to believe that any Christian could live today and NOT see the signs of Christ's rapture coming soon. The 'natural' disasters that seem to be happening with much more frequency as well as the continue decline of mankind and the lack of tolerance for anything Godly or moral are all indicators that the end is near. Although thinking about the rapture is a little unnerving since we don't know exactly how we'll feel or when it will happen. But as God's child I can have confidence in the fact that He keeps all of His promises and have peace that I will not be left behind.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Mary Lu for your thoughts on this hot button issue.
Hurray! I'm excited to hear that the movie was well done. I will definitely have to see it now. :) Thank you for sharing.
ReplyDeleteYes, I agree with you 100% on your convictions about the end times. Even so, Lord Jesus, Come Quickly!
Thanks for your comments/opinions, everyone. And for keeping it kind. I know there are many views out there on this, and I don't want to malign anyone else's opinion. Like I said, we are all God's children... and however it works out, we'll see each other in heaven. But yes, I do see the signs all around !! Makes me want to help bring people to the Lord. And Quick!
ReplyDeleteOh, good! I'm glad the movie is well made :) I'd heard of it but didn't realize it was in theaters already. I'll have to go see it sometime. I really liked the first movie, with Kirk Cameron.
ReplyDeleteWell said and well write. I would love to see, but I do not go to the movies; I will have to wait until it comes out on DVD.
ReplyDeleteGreat post! And I couldn't agree more about supporting Christians artists, even if we're not a fan of their particular genre!
ReplyDeleteJust thought about this topic yesterday so leafed through Revelations again. I definitely believe in the Rapture but as I read Revelations, it seems like it happens during the Tribulation because it talks about believers being martyred and persecuted during the Tribulation period. Anyway, just curious what you thought about that. Also, I think with how the economy is headed toward a cashless system (as everything becomes electronic), I could see how people in the future would need a "mark" in order to access money, thereby participating in the AntiChrist's economic system. I think this world is heading full-tilt toward the end. Thanks for your post, lots to think about!
ReplyDeleteIt is my belief, Lis, that many people will get saved AFTER the rapture.. because so many would have been told it was going to happen so when it does, they will finally realize God is real. I believe it's those people who are martyred during the Tribulation. But hey, I could be wrong! I guess we'll all find out someday.. soon. :-) Yes, we are definitely heading that way fast!
DeleteMakes sense, because of the reign of the Anti-Christ, MaryLu!! How wonderful it will be if the rapture occurs during our life-times - no more sorrow and pain, only joy with Him!!
DeleteAmen, MaryLu!! Wonderful post - and yes, I've been seeing the signs for a number of years now. There is little respect for human lives - by many people, the disasters continue to multiply and worsen, and I am discouraged by the fact that our religious freedoms are gradually being taken away - yet, also encouraged, as I see this, too, as one of the signs.
ReplyDeleteThanks for your opinion on the movie - my mother and I are going to see it in the next couple of days. It will be a disastrous time for many people, so blessed and thankful that I'm not one of those people. Love the pic you posted - it's incredible!!
Love, hugs, and prayers - MaryLu!!
