AND giving away a FREE paperback (US only) or Ebook (non US) to one lucky winner each week! The book is slated to release July 1st. In fact I'm still working on the edits, but hope to have it done soon and in the hands of my influencers.
So, let's get started!!
Let me introduce you to Miss Morgan Shaw.
Morgan is not your typical American twenty-four year old woman, though she certainly appears to be. Raised in a broken home by a mother hooked on pills and a distant father obsessed with power and wealth, Morgan grew up shy, insecure, and suffering from acute anxiety and Obsessive Compulsive Disorder. She considers herself to be average looking, even plain, and has gone through a string of loser boyfriends in the past six years, most of whom dumped her for no reason. She believes she has a propensity for falling for the wrong man! Regardless, she was able to get a masters in Information Science and land a good job at a high-tech company in San Diego where she leads project teams and is highly successful. Because of her OCD and Anxiety, she likes her life to be ordered and controlled. Everything that happens must be planned and thought out so she can keep her anxiety at a minimum. So, you can imagine what will happen when she gets transported 300 years in the past to a pirate ship!
Good Quailities:
Efficient, analytical, serious, detail-oriented, dependable, loyal, Smart, Kind-hearted, hard working, sense of humor
Bad Qualities
Rigid, Repressed, Unbending, Stubborn, Uptight, Insecure, Perfectionist, Fearful, Control Freak, Constantly seeks approval
Quirks: Morgan rubs her temples a lot when things aren't going as planned. She obsessively cleans and sets to order everything around her, even things that don't belong to her. She can't seem to stop herself!
So what do you think of Morgan Shaw? Leave your thoughts (along with your email) and I'll choose a winner next Friday, (WHEN I'll introduce the hero, Rowan Dutton!)
Have a Great weekend!
.
Morgan sounds like an absolutely fantastic heroine! And I adore the time travel twist! I'm sure this book will be yet another inspiring novel, and I'm positive that all the work you're putting into it will be more than worth it.
ReplyDeleteFrom the meagre information I know about Morgan, she sounds like an amazing character, and I love her already!
Blessing,
Hannah (han.straw@y7mail.com).
Friday 29th,
ReplyDelete"Morning, MaryLu."
First of all ... thrilled that we're at the "pre-release party stage" !!! Have to admit, I can identify with Morgan -- both in some of her good qualities, as well as several of her bad qualities. She sounds "totally human" !!! Looking forward to "The Reckoning" !!! Thanks for sharing.
Just to let you know MaryLu, I do have a U.S. postal station address (should I win ... as I prefer the paperback).
Have a wonderful weekend. Take care, and, God Bless, In Him, Brenda

I can totally relate to Morgan liking her life to be ordered and controlled. I admit I'm the same way. Unfortunately, this trait also means that when things are out of control, it reeks havoc on my mental well being. And although I do like things clean an tidy I refrain from straightening other's messes. I'm looking forward to hearing how she adjusts to life aboard a pirate ship. Me thinks it will not bode well for her. Thank you for the chance to win the book.

Boy, oh boy! Morgan sounds like a kick butt kinda gal - I say this knowing that I posses many of her good and bad traits ;-) I can't wait to see how a smart, well-educated, control freak handles going back in time, and to a pirate ship, no less! How will the pirates handle such a woman?! From the sounds of it, she will be quite the handful and give them a run for their money. Can't wait to see how this new adventure will play out!
ReplyDeleteWhoops! Forgot my email just in case ^_^ johnsonza@outlook.com
DeleteSounds like another great read! Would love to get my hands on this novel to read it! :D Thanks for the opportunity to win!

I really like Morgan! It's awesome to have such a realistic character with real struggles and quirks. Often fictional characters can become two dimensional or generic. Looking forward to this story :)
ReplyDeleteShe sounds like a very interesting character! I am a little OCD myself so I can relate to her in that. I can't wait to read it! :)
ReplyDeleteI like her alteady. Can't wait to meet him! Time travel has always been my favorite.
ReplyDeletejenndela2000@yahoo.com
Wow, MaryLu, Morgan sounds very intriguing! I cannot wait to see her orderly life in an uproar on a chaotic Pirate Ship, of all places!! :-) I know I am going to love it, which, of course, when have I ever NOT loved one of your stories?! Can't wait for July!!
ReplyDeleteI'm not sure if my previous comment went through so I'll post again. I'm so excited for this book! I loved the "Ransom" and all your other books! Morgan sounds like a great character and one I can relate to a lot. My e-mail is Meganleigh844@gmail.com. Thanks for the chance to win!
ReplyDeleteLove the time travel. Today's girl finds herself in the past 300 years. What a great idea! I can't wait to see how she ends up on a pirate ship and who she meets on it!
ReplyDeleteOh this sounds like so much fun! I can't wait to read this kind of story from you! OCD and transported to the past--what could go wrong? :)
ReplyDeleteAnd I forgot to include my email address! lmbartelt (at) gmail (dot) com
DeleteMorgan sounds like a wonderful character ! She has many dependable traits, and would be a great character to know !
ReplyDeleteI imagine her independence will be quite the challenge in a different time period both for her and whoever she has contact with !

I love this character.....July 1st! So exciting!
ReplyDeleteMorgan sounds like a great character who is going on a fabulous adventure, even though it won't be fun at first she sounds more than capable of adjusting and overcoming whatever comes her way :) Love the cleaning quirk, Morgan is definitely unique and I'm looking forward to seeing how she responds to her situation! Thanks for the giveaway, MaryLu, and congrats on this new book which sounds fabulous! I'm currently re-reading The Redemption and The Ransom (two of my fave books) and about to read The Reliance for the first time, have a blessed weekend :)

Morgan and I could be either best friends or sisters as alike as we are! Although I am not THAT obsessive about cleaning! I do like a well ordered world so being thrown 300 years into the past would totally throw me off kilter. I would love to have the chance to read her story to see how she handles it, thank you MaryLu!

She sounds like an excellent heroine! Can't wait to see how she handles the craziness of a pirate ship. :) Absolutely love the cover as well! :)

Can't wait to read this one. The character sounds like she is going to have me hooked from the start
ReplyDeleteMorgan is a gal many women can relate to with having the character qualities of being a control freak, perfectionist, hard-working, and detail-oriented. I am anxious to see how she handles her circumstances after being taken out of her element.

Morgan sounds like an absolutely wonderful woman and it going to be an adventure to read her story.
ReplyDeleteI cannot understand why she would consider herself 'plain'! She is beautiful! She also sounds very deep and complicated - I would be thrilled to be able to read this story!

Morgan sounds AMAZING! Can't wait to read more of her story. :)

Hi Marylu! I think that, other than the mom with a pill habit, you just might have based on me as a 24 year old! However, she is much more blessed to be sent back in time to land on a pirate ship, as I was stuck in the 21st century and I gave into a life of drugs to escape my issues! (I am, however, willing to be sent back in time to a pirate ship now, if you'd like to write that into my life! Hint hint!)

Kristen, I WISH I could send you back. In fact, I would go with you!. Wouldn't we have fun? I'm sorry to hear you had a rough time as a young adult. Though I didn't get into drugs, I did drink heavily, so I can relate. Thanks for entering.

Thank you all so much for your kind comments!! Sounds like we have a few "Morgans" in this group! Would you believe I sort of modeled her on myself? I'm not as bad as she is, but definitely have some OCD and anxiety. Just ask my hubby!
ReplyDeleteI'm so looking forward to a little time travel! And pirates to boot? What more could a girl ask for?
ReplyDeleteecriggs1990(at)aol(dot)com
Morgan sounds like an intriguing character and I look forward to reading about how her pirate adventure changes her. I can't wait for your new book!

I see parts of myself in Morgan - can't wait to read about her adventures!! Thanks for the preview!!
ReplyDeleteLove, hugs, and prayers, MaryLu!!

ReplyDeleteI am the complete opposite of OCD. So maybe this will be a fun read for me. Opposites attract right?(; not to mention that I can never decide weather to read a historical fiction, or modern day book. This gives me both!! Yay!! Can't wait...
ReplyDeleteOh! And my email is sophie7grace@gmail.com
DeleteThe other day I found myself googling pirates because well I've pretty much fallen in love with each one of your leading sailors! Of course the pirates of today aren't quite as dreamy as the ones conjured up in your writings... so as you can see, I sort of have a love/hate relationship with your books ;) I cannot wait to read about Morgan's swashbuckling and swoon-worthy adventures, especially since her character is chock full of characteristics that I find in myself! Thanks for the chance to enter the pre-release contest!! Email is msmoka@alumni.uwo.ca! God Bless :)
ReplyDeleteYou made me laugh, Mae! You are so right about modern pirates... blaaa. I hope you have more love than hate for my books. LOL Thanks for entering
DeleteI love her picture, and I love that she's an obsessive cleaner! LOL--now that's relatable. :) Can't wait to read her story!

Morgan sounds real! I love it! She has good qualities, but she also has her flaws. Can't wait to read it!

Hi MaryLu. I would just rather look at her good traits. Might be what went on around her while growing up makes her have some of the bad traits. Looks like a good book. Wishing you lots of good luck with your book, tho it is pretty much a given. :) Maxie > mac262(at)me(dot)com <
