Kauai, the garden Isle!

As some of you may know, hubby and I went to Hawaii recently to celebrate our 23rd anniversary! We spent 7 nights at the Sheraton resort near Poipu beach on the island of Kauai.  Kauai is the island known to be the most natural island with more square footage remaining in its natural state than the other islands. It is the oldest and 4th largest of the Hawaiian chain.  The island was discovered by Captain James Cook in 1778.   I thought you'd enjoy some pictures from our trip.

View flying into Honolulu

View from our room! We were right on the Ocean

Thousands of wild chickens populate the island!

We took a helicopter ride!

One of the many waterfalls on the island!

My favorite drink, a Pina Colada!

Waimea Canyon!

Chicken showing off for me!

Ziplining!

The last night we were there, we went to a Luau

Sunset from our balcony!
We had a great time. Ate lots of good food and wandered about the island in our rental car. We also went snorkeling two days, which was my 2nd favorite thing to do next to the helicopter ride. One day we just relaxed on our balcony and read.  It was a great time to reconnect with each other and to appreciate the glory of God's creation. Made me wonder that if creation is so beautiful in our fallen world, how magnificent it will be when God makes all things new!

Have a great weekend!

  2. Thanks for the beautiful pictures, MaryLu!! I never tire of looking at pictures of Hawaii, in general, and Kauai, especially. I toured several of the islands, Kauai was my fave and the most beautiful - I felt. You were very adventurous, and able to see Kauai from all angles and top to bottom - so to speak. How high was the zipline you did?? Was wondering if you tried Hawaii's famous frozen ice and/or viewed a volcano erupting in the blackness of night?? The lava flowing down the side into the ocean is beautiful!! Hawaii is the most beautiful place I've seen - God is such a master at creating nature, and like you, I can't even imagine how beautiful our eternal home will be!!

Love, prayers, and hugs - MaryLu!!

  6. Color me jealous! I vacationed in Maui two years ago and couldn't get over the beauty. Stunning does not even begin to describe the scenery. I, too, thought that if this broken world could hold such wonderful things that took my breath away, what will heaven be like?? Looking forward to finding out. Glad you made it home safely and it was nothing like your previous trip - GROAN!
