Jesus answered and said to them, “When it is evening you say, ‘It will be fair weather, for the sky is red’; and in the morning, ‘It will be foul weather today, for the sky is red and threatening.’ Hypocrites! You know how to discern the face of the sky, but you cannot discern the signs of the times.
Matthew 16:2-3
I may have used this verse before but reading the signs of the times has been on my mind. And this is the perfect picture for Jesus' statement! He was criticizing the religious leaders of his day for not recognizing that He was the Messiah, for not paying attention to the prophecies and signs.
Here's some interesting facts:
- There are 1500 references to the 2nd Coming in the OLD Testament
- There are 300 references to the 2nd coming in the New Testament
- Jesus refers to it 24 times
- For every prophecy about Jesus' first coming, there are EIGHT regarding his second
Maybe the church needs to be paying a little more attention to this, eh?

Perfect picture with the perfect verse !!! Yes, we very much need to be aware of the "signs of the times" , and Christ's second return. Everything is surely pointing to it.
