Greetings Precious Children of the Most High! We are still in a high watch season for our Lord's coming. Today is the Day of Atonement Eve and tomorrow is the Day of Atonement. The Day of Atonement is the one day a year that the Jewish High Priest could enter the Holy of Holies and offer a sacrifice for the sins of the nation. Although Jesus, our High Priest, has already sacrificed Himself once and for all, for all the sins of mankind, this holiday is still of vast importance. A couple of interesting points:
After Rosh Hashana (which happened last week on Sept 21 and 22nd) there are 10 days before the Day of Atonement which are called the Days of Awe. These days are a last chance for everyone to repent and purify themselves before the Day of Atonement where their names will be sealed either in the Book of Life or the Book of Death.
The Day of Atonement is the climax of the Season of Teshavah, which I have mentioned before on this blog. This is an extended season of repentance and turning back to the Lord which begins 40 days before the Day of Atonement. According to Jewish scholars, at the beginning of Teshavah, Moses ascended Mount Sinai to receive the Ten Commandments where he remained for 40 days and 40 nights, and then descended on the Day of Atonement. The really interesting thing about all this is that the Great American Eclipse occurred on the first day of Teshavah and 40 days later, we are here at the Day of Atonement.
