It's hard not to admit that our world is falling apart. Humanist will tell you that we are evolving, becoming more civilized, kinder, more caring of our fellow man, that some day we will reach a utopia where all men will live in harmony. If that were the case, wouldn't we see less wars, less selfishness, violence, corruption? Less injustice, lying, stealing, murders? Instead what we see is the world on the edge of nuclear war, Islamic Jihadists slicing off people's heads who don't agree with them, race wars, civil unrest, extreme corruption in almost every government on earth, the middle east on the verge of exploding, famine, persecution, diseases, civil unrest, families killing each other, innocent people being slaughtered. Sorry to be so morose, but let's face the facts. Immorality is rampant. The sexual revolution has produced a generation of people who believe "If it feels good, do it" and "if you can't be with the one you love, love the one you're with". Homosexuality and the LGBTQ agenda is being shoved in our faces as completely normal. Then we have the storms, volcano eruptions, and earthquakes that are plaguing the planet--all signs of an imminent birth.
What is being born, you might ask? The Kingdom of God!
Someday, Jesus will rule and reign over this world from his throne in Jerusalem. He will make all things new and grant man the utopia of peace and harmony we seek. Under His rulershp, righteousness will reign and the earth will flourish like it never has before. There will be no more sickness, hunger, wars, discord, terror, or wickedness. Jesus will rule with a rod of iron, and we, His special people, His bride, will rule alongside Him. Personally, I'm so excited, I can't wait!
In the meantime, however, we are still here in this messed-up world. How do we continue on against such overwhelming odds? In case you haven't noticed, this present world system is undergoing a tremendous shaking. This shaking will get worse as we get to the close of the age. Who is doing this shaking? Father God. Why? Because He is getting rid of everything that can't withstand the shaking. Everything and everyone not founded on the Rock. What is that Rock? Jesus!
“For thus says the Lord of hosts: ‘Once more, I will shake heaven and earth, the sea and dry land; and I will shake all nations," Haggai 2:6
So how do you remain standing in a world falling apart?
Align your purposes with the will of God.
What is the will of God? The ultimate will of God is specified clearly in the Lord's prayer. "Thy Kingdom come, thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven" God's endgame is a Kingdom, the same purpose He originally had in the garden of Eden. He created man to rule and reign over the earth in righteousness alongside God. Man messed up. But God's purpose never changed.
He is still seeking those who can rule and reign on this earth alongside Him.
If you align yourself with God's purpose, you will never be shaken. So how do you do that?
For the grace of God that bringeth salvation hath appeared to all men, teaching us that, denying ungodliness and worldly lusts, we should live soberly, righteously, and godly, in this present world;
Looking for that blessed hope, and the glorious appearing of the great God and our Saviour Jesus Christ; Who gave himself for us, that he might redeem us from all iniquity, and purify unto himself a peculiar people, zealous of good works Titus 2:11-14
We see at the bottom of this Scripture that God is purifying for himself a group of people who will ultimately rule and reign with Him on earth. But this Scripture also gives us clues on how to do that.
- Denying ungodliness
- Denying Worldly lusts
- Live soberly, righteously, and godly
- Look for the glorious appearing of Jesus
In other words, put God first, align with His purposes, live your life for Him, and continue to keep watch for His soon return. Don't mingle with the things of this world, and don't love the things of this world.
Do not love the world nor the things in the world. If anyone loves the world, the love of the Father is not in him. 1 John 2:15
Pretty harsh words, wouldn't you say? But the truth is, if you love this world more than God, if you don't live righteously, you WILL be shaken, and quite possibly during the tribulation.
“Yet once more I shake not only the earth, but also heaven.” Now this, “Yet once more,” indicates the removal of those things that are being shaken, as of things that are made, that the things which cannot be shaken may remain. Therefore, since we are receiving a kingdom which cannot be shaken, let us have grace, by which we may serve God acceptably with reverence and godly fear. For our God is a consuming fire.
Hebrews 12:25-28
I have set the Lord continually before me; Because He is at my right hand, I will not be shaken. Psalm 16:8
He alone is my rock and my salvation, My defense and my strong tower; I will not be shaken or disheartened. Psalm 62:2
Have you set God continually before you? (Made Him your top priority)?
Is He alone your rock and salvation?
If so, the Bible promises you will not be shaken, you will not fall, you will not be moved. Get your purposes aligned with God's and you will endure the great shaking that is coming upon the earth.
Oh, wow!!

ReplyDeleteThere once was on old woman who helped her children make ends meet with the few dollars she earned cleaning bathrooms around the town.
ReplyDeleteOne day her youngest granddaughter asked, "If you knew for sure that tomorrow was your last day on earth, what would you do today?"
"I'd clean the toilets," she replied. "Then I'd wash my hands and give you a great big kiss!"
