Salvation is free, but it IS Conditional

I realize this will go against everything some of you have been taught your entire life in church. And I also know I've brought this topic up before. But this is my passion! To wake up the church and help them see the truth of what the Bible says. I've been insulted, berated, and condemned for preaching this. I've lost people who would have bought my books. But this is so much more important than my books, money, or fame. This is about eternal souls. I feel a strong urge to keep repeating this because our time here is short. There is a rapture, but it is only for the Faithful Church, those believers who follow the Lord with all their heart. It is a heart issue, not a works issue, though outward works are a result of a changed heart.

If the gift of salvation (through the death and resurrection of Jesus) were free and without condition then everyone would be saved, right? But God requires us to do something in order to receive that gift.

1. Repent - This is a genuine sorrow for your sins and a willingness to completely change
For godly sorrow that is in accord with the will of God produces a repentance without regret, leading to salvation 2 Corinthians 7:10

2. Confess - You must tell others of your newfound salvation in Jesus
if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. Romans 10:9

3. Believe in your Heart - Heart belief is not head belief. How do you tell the difference?  You will hate your past sin and no longer wish to sin. You will have a strong desire to grow close to the Lord

Believe in the above verse is the Greek word, pisteuĆ³, which means to "Put your trust in, to trust" .  In other words, it means to follow, to obey, to make Jesus Lord of your life,

So you see that though Salvation is free, God does require us to repent, confess, and believe.
But let's not stop there. You can't just do those 3 things and go on your merry way, thinking that you're good for all eternity and God doesn't require anything else of you.

Once Saved Always Saved is a lie from the Devil. Before you click away, don't believe me. Believe in the Word of God.  Yes, our Salvation is eternal, but keeping it is also conditional.

Trust in the Word of God.

For this reason we must pay much closer attention to what we have heard, so that we do not drift away from it.  For if the word spoken through angels proved unalterable, and every transgression and disobedience received a just penalty,  how will we escape if we neglect so great a salvation? Hebrews 2:1-2

Now I make known to you, brethren, the gospel which I preached to you, which also you received, in which also you stand,  by which also you are saved, if you hold fast the word which I preached to you, unless you believed in vain. 2 Corinthians 15:1-2

but Christ as a Son over His own house, whose house we are if we hold fast the confidence and the rejoicing of the hope firm to the end. Hebrews 3:7

For we have become partakers of Christ, if we hold fast the beginning of our assurance firm until the end, Hebrews 3:14

Remember therefore how you have received and heard; hold fast and repent. Therefore if you will not watch, I will come upon you as a thief, and you will not know what hour I will come upon you. Revelation 3:3

Whoever therefore wants to be a friend of the world makes himself an enemy of God James 4:4

For if we sin willfully after we have received the knowledge of the truth, there no longer remains a sacrifice for sins,  but a certain fearful expectation of judgment, and fiery indignation which will devour the adversaries. Hebrews 10:26-27

MaryLu here: How we all love to recite this wonderful Scripture below from Romans 8
There is therefore now no condemnation to those who are in Christ Jesus

But how often do we continue on with the next verses?
who do not walk according to the flesh, but according to the Spirit....Because the carnal mind is enmity against God; for it is not subject to the law of God, nor indeed can be.  So then, those who are in the flesh cannot please God.

In other words, you can't claim there is no condemnation for your sins UNLESS you are in Jesus AND you walk According to the Spirit

Here are the works of the flesh and the end result  (From Galatians 5)  Remember Paul is not preaching to unbelievers. His letters are for the church.
Now the works of the flesh are evident, which are: adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lewdness,  idolatry, sorcery, hatred, contentions, jealousies, outbursts of wrath, selfish ambitions, dissensions, heresies, envy, murders, drunkenness, revelries, and the like; of which I tell you beforehand, just as I also told you in time past, that those who practice such things will not inherit the kingdom of God.

Here's another Scripture from Romans 8, one of my favorite, actually.
And we know that all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are the called according to His purpose.

I love this verse and often claim it because it brings such joy to know that even in  the middle of the storm, even in the midst of trials and tribulations, God will make everything turn out well!  But there is a condition..... We must love God and be in His family..

How do we know we love God?

By this the children of God and the children of the devil are clearly identified: anyone who does not practice righteousness, who does not seek God’s will in thought, action, and purpose, is not of God, nor is the one who does not unselfishly love his believing brother.  1 John 3:10

These are only a few of many Scriptures. If you believe that after you get "saved" you can live your life anyway you please and do whatever you want and God forgives you, I'm begging you to read over these Scriptures and search the Bible yourself. Yes, our salvation is secure. The devil cannot take it from us. But we can give it up. We can forfeit it by living our lives for ourselves, by purposely and willfully disobeying God, by loving the world and the things of the world more than God.

If your church preaches Once Saved Always Saved, I'd run as far away from it as possible. There are many many people in church today who are going to find themselves in Hell. And honestly, that's what keeps me up at night. I hurt for them. I long for them to come to the knowledge of the truth and not trust anyone else, even pastors and Bible Teachers.... and even me!  Look it up for yourself! Don't be fooled by the devil....

If you know someone who has bought into this false doctrine, please forward this to them.

I love you all..

  2. Again you have given us some of the best words and verses to read and ponder on! I too worry about my loved ones and friends who hAve accepted Jesus Christ but are not going to church, reading His word and you know they believe , but that is not enough. Lifting them up in prayer and loving them as Christ loves us -is one way . I agree with you you -- time is running short-- there is disruption all over . I am saddened that so many will be lost even farther . My heart aches for the young and for those who have not had the desire to seek God. I thank you MaryLu for your obedience in spreading the word here . And I pray that each one who reads your listings will be curious enough to dig deeper and to stop and think-- that what is going on in the world is just not right.
