Don't forget who you are!!!

One of the enemy's biggest lies to those of us who are followers of Christ is that we are powerless, that we live "under the circumstances", that we are barely slogging through life clinging to Jesus's robe, inundated with struggles and trials that are just a normal part of life.

Yet when I read through the Bible, I get a different vision of believers. I get a vision of a victorious people, a strong, courageous people, of rulers and priests, of the wise and discerning, of people who possess the power to walk on water.

In order to list just a "sample" of these truths, I did a search through the New Testament for the words "In Christ" and "In Him" and here's what I found.

In Christ you

  • Have redemption - deliverance, rescue, atonement for all sins  (Romans 3:24)
  • Are dead to sin, alive to God (Romans 6:11)
  • Under NO condemnation (Romans 8:1)
  • Are free from the law of sin and death (Romans 8:2)
  • Can never be separated from the Love of God (Romans 8:38-39)
  • Together with other believers form one body (Romans 12:5)
  • Have wisdom, righteousness, and sanctification (1 Corinthians 1:30)
  • Are made alive (1 Corinthians 15:22)
  • Know that all of God's promises are "Yes" and "Amen" (2 Corinthians 1:20)
  • Are led forth in triumph (2 Corinthians 2:14)
  • No longer have a veil over your eyes (2 Cor 3:14)
  • Are a new creation (2 Cor 5:14)
  • Have liberty (Galatians 2:4)
  • Are justified by faith (Galatians 2:16)
  • Have the blessing of Abraham (Galatians 3:14)
  • Are daughters and sons of God (Galatians 3:26)
  • Are ONE people, one family (Galatians 3:28)
  • Are blessed with every spiritual blessing in Heavenly places (Ephesians 1:3)
  • Know the mystery of His will (Ephesians 1:9)
  • Are raised up and sit in heavenly places (Right now!)  (Ephesians 2:6)
  • Receive ALL of God's grace, riches, and kindness (Ephesians 2:7)
  • Are God's masterpiece, created for good works (Ephesians 2:10)
  • Have been brought near to God (Ephesians 2:13)
  • Are a partaker of the promise (Ephesians 3:6)
  • Have the mind of Christ (Philippians 2:5)
  • Have a prize of an upward call (Philippians 3:14)
  • Have a peace that guards your heart and mind (Philippians 4:7)
  • Have all your needs met by God's riches (Philippians 4:19)
  • Have been brought to the fullness of God and your flesh was crucified (Colossians 2:9-11)
  • Will be raised from the dead at the rapture (1 Thess 4:16)
  • Have a promise of life (2 Tim 1:1)
  • Are saved and called with a holy calling (2 Tim 1:9)
  • Have faith and love (2 Tim 1:13)
  • Are called to eternal glory  (1 Peter 5:10)
  • Are a fountain of living water (John 4:14)
  • Will not perish but have everlasting life (John 3:16)_
  • Live and move and have your being (Acts 17:28)
  • Have been enriched in every way with all kinds of speech and knowledge (1 Cor 4:4-5
  • Are the righteousness of God (2 Cor 5:21)
  • Were chosen before the foundation of the world ( Ephesians 1:4)
  • Have redemption and forgiveness of sin (Ephesians 1:7)
  • Have obtained an inheritance (Ephesians 1:11)
  • Are being built with others into one house where God dwells (Ephesians 2:22)
  • Can approach the throne of God with boldness (Ephesians 3:12)
  • Are complete (Colossians 2:10)
  • Will never be put to shame (1 Peter 2:6)
  • Will have confidence and not be ashamed at His coming (1 John 2:28)
  • Have God's Spirit living within you. (1 John 4:13)
  • Can ask anything according to His will and He hears you (1 John 54:14)

Pretty incredible, isn't it? And this is only a list from the phrase "In Him". There are so many other descriptions of God's people.

The truth of the matter is, you are a child of the Living God who has access at any time to approach God with any issue or problem. You are already seated in heaven, already seated above all earthly problems and trials. You have God's Spirit living within you and the mind of Christ in your head. Nothing is impossible with you. You are a king and a priest and are called to a holy calling. All your needs are met and you have been given everything you need to complete God's will for your life.

I encourage you to print off this list and keep it close at hand to remind yourself just who you are in Jesus. I guarantee the enemy will come at you declaring the opposite to be true. He won't give up. Why? Because when you truly, I mean truly believe in who you ARE, your faith will grow by leaps and bounds and you will be a powerful warrior for the Lord and drive back the darkness wherever you go!
