When the Son of Man comes, will he find faith on the earth?

And will not God bring about justice for his chosen ones, who cry out to him day and night? Will he keep putting them off? I tell you, he will see that they get justice, and quickly. However, when the Son of Man comes, will he find faith on the earth?” Luke 18:7-8

In our current world, I find myself asking the same question as Jesus did.  How many people in our world today are true believers? There are many who call themselves believers.  According to this recent survey, there are 230 Million Christians in America. That's well over half our population of 327 million. If that's true, I wonder where they are all hiding? I say that jokingly but in truth, not really.

The Bible tells us that in the last days, many people who call themselves believers would either fall away from the faith or be fake believers.

The Spirit clearly says that in later times some will abandon the faith and follow deceiving spirits and things taught by demons. 1 Tim 4:1

 But mark this: There will be terrible times in the last days. People will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, boastful, proud, abusive, disobedient to their parents, ungrateful, unholy,  without love, unforgiving, slanderous, without self-control, brutal, not lovers of the good,  treacherous, rash, conceited, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God—  having a form of godliness but denying its power. Have nothing to do with such people. 2 Timothy 3 1:-5

I've spoken at great length on this blog about the "doctrine of demons" being taught in many churches today. Dominionism, Universalism, Once Saved Always Saved, Hypergrace, Seeker Friendly or the Emergent Church to name a few.  It amazes me to see how easily Satan has infiltrated churches and swayed people away from what the Bible actually says.

According to a recent study done in March 2020 by Barna

• Although 7 out of 10 Americans consider themselves to be Christian, just 6% actually possess a biblical worldview.
• Just one-fifth of those attending evangelical Protestant churches (21%) have a biblical worldview, as compared to one-sixth of those attending charismatic or Pentecostal churches (16%). The study finds even smaller proportions in mainline Protestant (8%) or Catholic (1%) churches.
• The number of American adults holding a biblical worldview has declined by 50% over the past quarter century.
• Regarding the youngest adult generation, the numbers are even more startling. A mere 2% of those 18 to 29 years old possess a biblical worldview.

According to another study,  82% of Christians only read their Bible on Sunday at church

This astounds me!  God left us a book! He left us a love letter and an instruction book and a book that tells us the future and we don't read it!!!  No wonder Satan was able to deceive so many with doctrines of demons!

So what is a true Christian? A true believer in Jesus? How does someone get saved?

If you confess with your mouth Jesus as Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. For with the heart one believes unto righteousness, and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.  Romans 10:9-10

Notice it is a belief in your heart not your head. What is your heart? It's the real you, your inner man or woman, your spirit. This is true faith. It comes from within you and has nothing to do with your mind. But I'm interested in something else in this verse, the confession. What are you confessing? That Jesus is Lord! But what does that mean? Does it mean Jesus is Lord over all? Sure, but it's much deeper than that, You are confessing that Jesus is now YOUR Lord.

The word Lord in the greek is kyrios and it means he to whom a person or thing belongs, about which he has power of deciding; master, lord

In other words, when you get saved and believe in your heart that Jesus is the Son of God who died and rose again for your sins, and you confess that He is Lord, that means He is now in charge of your life. You are the slave. He is the master. And what does a slave do? The slave lives a life of obedience to the Master!

This seems to be missing in our modern church message. When you get saved, your life is no longer your own. You have been bought with the highest price in all eternity.

Do you not know that your bodies are temples of the Holy Spirit, who is in you, whom you have received from God? You are not your own; you were bought at a price. Therefore honor God with your bodies. 1 Corinthians 6:19=20

This brings us to the final verse which sums up everything. The words of Jesus:

 “Not everyone who says to Me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ shall enter the kingdom of heaven, but he who does the will of My Father in heaven. Many will say to Me in that day, ‘Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in Your name, cast out demons in Your name, and done many wonders in Your name?’ And then I will declare to them, ‘I never knew you; depart from Me, you who practice lawlessness!’  Matthew 7:21-23

Apparently, there will be people on judgement day who confessed Jesus as Lord and even did works in His name, but they never lived their lives MAKING Him Lord. They never walked in obedience to Him and His Word. If they had, they would have had an intimate knowledge of Him. They would have had a close relationship with Him because that is the most important thing Jesus asks of us... to Know Him!

I pray we all come to know Jesus intimately before He returns and it's too late.
