Jesus's heart breaks, Rewards, and Into His Presence!

Dear Precious saints,

I intended to write a post on another topic, but I got real sick Friday afternoon, and I just don't have much strength today. It hit me like a mack truck with all the symptoms of food poisoning though I hadn't eaten anything that day except some homemade Keifer. Spiritual attack? Maybe. But the Lord delivered me.  Anyway, I felt compelled to come on and say a few things that I believe are very strong on the Lord's heart at the moment.

Jesus's heart is breaking
Jesus is coming, and He's coming soon, but His heart is breaking for those of His people, those who claim to be Christians, who aren't ready and will not be able to escape what's soon coming. The problem is that most Christians don't read their Bible. They rely on pastors and preachers and Sunday sermons. If they read their Bible through and through and through again, they would know that God requires that you put Him first above all things, that He requires that you are obedient to His Word and that you bear fruit. We aren't saved by works, but by the awesome grace of Jesus's sacrifice on the cross for our sins. However, we are saved to do good works, which is what the Apostle Paul said. We aren't saved to sit around and be ho-hum about Jesus or do nothing for Him and His Kingdom. And we certainly aren't saved to continue sinning and living for the pleasures of this world. This sort of attitude breaks the Lord's heart. Yet still He holds off on His return, hoping that a few more of these wayward believers will finally bend their knee to Him.

For if we sin wilfully after that we have received the knowledge of the truth, there remaineth no more sacrifice for sins, But a certain fearful looking for of judgment and fiery indignation, which shall devour the adversaries. He that despised Moses' law died without mercy under two or three witnesses:  Of how much sorer punishment, suppose ye, shall he be thought worthy, who hath trodden under foot the Son of God, and hath counted the blood of the covenant, wherewith he was sanctified, an unholy thing, and hath done despite unto the Spirit of grace? Hebrews 10:26-29

Rewards
The other thing I feel compelled to mention are the rewards that are coming to those of us who are truly committed to the Lord. We aren't really taught this in church, but again, it becomes clear as you read the Bible that there are rewards with varying degrees for believers who put the Lord first in this life and follow Him with all their hearts.  We are told we will rule and reign with Christ and in the parable of the talents, Jesus told the person who earned the most talents that he would rule over many things.  So we know we will be given various jobs, titles, rulerships and responsibilities. To make it real, would you rather be a janitor or a governor? Also, it is my personal opinion from Scripture that those who lived their lives FOR the Lord will have more access to God and the throne room than others. Perhaps their homes will be closer to the heavenly throne room or they will be invited to intimate feasts. It doesn't mean God doesn't love all of His children, but access to Him could be a reward. Also, our glorified bodies are a reward. Yes, they are for everyone, but there's a Scripture that speaks of those who win souls for the Lord Shining bright like the sun (I'm paraphrasing). But it makes me think that they will have super glorified bodies that are perhaps more beautiful and powerful. Of course, we can't know the extent of all the rewards we will be given, and we should in no way be focused on those instead of Jesus, but I mention them because many believers never think of these things. It matters what we do here for Jesus. It matters for eternity. While we strive to acquire money and possessions here, things that don't last forever, wouldn't it better to strive for eternal treasures?  I highly recommend a book I read years ago called Driven by Eternity by John Bevere. It will really open your eyes about such things.

Into His Presence
And lastly, I feel led to talk about the best way to enter the presence of God. For years, I spent my prayer time reciting a list of requests for myself, my family and others.  Of course I would also thank God for everything and pray for protection and forgiveness of sins. All good things to do. But can you imagine how bored God must be listening to the same requests each day?  Would you do that to your earthy father? Go to him every day with the same requests? Wouldn't he say something like. "you already asked me that. I've got it. Now, let's just hang out and talk."  So, I've been more focused on trying that.... especially while I'm reading the Bible. I have an ongoing conversation with Him. I also talk to Him a lot during the day. But one of the best ways I've recently discovered to really enter into His presence and feel His love and hear from Him is Worship! I'm not talking about putting on a song or two, singing along, and that's it. I'm talking about getting alone, lifting your hands in the air and singing praise to God. Start out by thanking Him for everything, work your way into praising Him for all His love, faithfulness, salvation, mercy, grace, etc. You can put on music if you want, but it's often just good to sing whatever praise songs you know. Soon, you will really sense His presence. It is in these moments that Jesus will speak to you in your spirit, perhaps heal you, reassure you of an answer to prayer, give you an answer to a question you've had, etc.  I highly recommend you give it a try.

Have a very blessed week!  Maranatha!

  1. Yes, MaryLu, I agree about worship as the best way to enter the Lord's presence. And,like you, I tend to have an ongong chit-chat with the Lord throughout day, commenting on this or that--usually the beauty of something or someone He has created. It occurred to me the other day that it must be so hurtful that so many of His Bride are not paying attention, longing, looking for Him on the horizon. I was explaining to my husband, who is a believer but an uneducated one, (our 53 wedding anniversary was Saturday) about the Bride/Bridegroom, Church/Jesus connection when I said, "Imagine how hurtful it must be to Jesus that His Bride isn't watching for Him. Suppose all those years ago after we got engaged, you left for another state to build a house for us. [my husband grew up in construction and has built/remodeled our houses himself over the years so this would be meaningful on a personal level, and Jesus, after all, was a builder/carpenter] and couldn't wait to come get me to go to our new home. Suppose the process took months, a year or longer, and you were working hard all that time. In the meantime, I was enjoying the benefits of engagement but living my life as normal, not longing, not looking, occasionally checking in by phone. How would that make you feel?"

We have seen many "high watch" days come and go, and with each one there is a temptation to give up looking. But I believe our looking, longing, watching, waiting blesses Jesus, testifies to our love for Him--is evidence that the Spirit and the Bride say, "Come, Lord Jesus." There aren't many things we can "do" for Jesus to show our love for Him. I believe obedience, submission, looking are among the most significant.

    Maranatha!

    1. Judi, I hope your husband took your analogy to heart! So many believers never think of the Lord like that. We forget that He loves us and has emotions too and longs to be with His Bride.
Yes, many high watch days have come and gone and it is extremely disappointing. I've been at this for a number of years, and though I've been tempted to give up and stop watching, how can I? He's my life. All Jesus wants is our hearts.

  2. I've recently been introduced to "Jesus Calling" by Sarah Young and am liking how it's written as if Jesus Himself were talking directly to me. It's really been helping me "actively" focus on Him through some difficult times I've been facing the past few months. It's doesn't take the place of my Bible reading, but it is helpful in making me more consciously aware of His Presence in my life, and I find myself meditating on Him and talking to Him more.

    1. I love Jesus Calling! I've heard some off things about Sarah Young, but all I can say is that book helped me to focus more on an intimate walk with Jesus, and that's what counts!

    2. Amy, a friend reminded me of why I felt uneasy about Sarah Young and Jesus calling. I did read the first one she put out and enjoyed it but had since learned about its new age origins. Therefore, I caution you and others here to read this article from an ex-New Ager. https://doreenvirtue.com/2021/03/22/say-no-to-jesus-calling-new-age-channeled-books/

    3. Ladies, like you I was drawn to Sarah Young's books, I have several of them, and they ministered to me. I did not see them in place of Scritpure, but rather as devotional--how an interaction with Jesus might go. It certainly helps to be well grounded in doctrine first! I read a criticism of one of the entries that pointed out it was outright wrong biblically. When I checked, by golly the critique was right! I hadn't noticed it, I think because my foundation is the Bible first and I didn't see these books as studies or teachings. [without opening another can of worms, I read The Shack in the same light, not as theology for goodness sakes, but as a fictionalized imagining of interaction and ministry from the Trinity. That book too helped me see the Trinity in more concrete ways, not as the characters were presented for heaven's sake, but as an attempt to help the authors children understand better.] At any rate, the important thing is to remember the main thing: the Bibe, our only source of Truth. I do agree that we need to be more and more discerning, I don't read Sarah Young anymore, in this age of massive occult deception. The deception can be very subtle, masquerading as light, n'est pas? If for no other reason to avoid reading them, we should nave zero association with anything that could remotely be from the occult.

    4. I also read the Shack. I liked it, but didn't take it serious really... but then I heard about the bad theology. We are all on a road of sanctification and redemption... and I love how the Lord gently guides and leads us as we move along into more and more truth and warns us when we delve into something that isn't Biblical. But, like you said, Judi, the best thing is to stick with the Bible! God's Words contain power and life!

    5. Thank you MaryLu & Hmewordbd for sharing this as I was unaware of its New Ageism ties. As I stated in my comment, "Jesus Calling" does not take the place of my Bible reading as I know it alone is the ONLY true and inspired Word of God. I'll be much more weary going forward and appreciate your comments and concern.

    6. I had a friend who believes she is a true Christian, give me a couple of Sarah Young's books. I have tried pointing out to her that she needs to be very careful, but I think I offended her.

  4. MaryLu, God never gets bored with hearing our daily requests in prayer as long as we mean them. Don´t tell lies about our heavenly father.

    1. We are created in His image. He has emotions too. Being bored is not a bad thing or a sin. Yes, He loves to hear from us! My point was that He'd much rather just hang out with us and talk and love and share than have us read from a list of things we want from Him. How do you know He never gets bored? He even said over and over to the Israelites in the OT that He was tired of their endless prayers and sacrifices that meant nothing. I would never presume to tell a lie about God. Shame on you for saying so. If that's the only thing you got out of my message, please go elsewhere. Sorry for being rude but I'm so sick of people who say nasty things but hide behind "Anonymous". You think this is fun for me? You think I love spending hours of my precious time putting together posts for this blog to try and help the Saints? I make no money, my books sales are nonexistent because I haven't had time to write. This is all an act of love for the saints and worship to the Lord. I do it because the Lord has asked me to keep encouraging the Bride. Do I get everything right? No. But I sure try! And I pray about everything I post. Yet, this is your reaction. You call me a liar. Shame on you. I forgive you. But please move on.

    2. Good morning, MaryLu, I agree completely with your response. Civil discourse and tact are lost arts in the world today. If one has a disagreement, the objection should be well thought out and gently presented. I am appalled at the things "Christians" say to each other these days. Good grief, what kind of witnesses are we to the unsaved? Of course God has the same emotions we do (not the evil ones naturally). We are created in His image after all--and Jesus was tempted in all the ways we are. That means He can and does feel the full spectrum of human emotions--only, unlike us, in total righteousness. Know your blog is an informative encouragement and blessing to many! huggzz, judi

    3. Thank you so much, Judi! You are such a blessing. I don't mind disagreements. I don't mind if someone politely questions something I've said. I will always bring it to the Lord and if I'm wrong, I'll publicly apologize. But this Anonymous name calling ... well, I've just had enough. It's been one of those weeks, you know? LOL. HUGS back to you and yours!

    4. If you are going to post nasty comments as "anonymous", I think you should just leave this blog.

  5. Name calling? I never ever did ths but the problem is you do not listen to critique. You listen to lies of the internet without really seeking facts. You are listening and spreading conspiracy theories. You believe everything what is written in the internet, you have changed from a serious christian to a fanatic and I am so sad that you allow this to happen. The Israelites had turned away from the Lord and that was the reason He didn´t endure their empty prayers. Read the Bible and listen to His word. You are walking a very dangerous path and you are listening partly to the deceiver. Wake up before it is too late.
Don´t answer to me. Answer to God.

    1. I'm happy to listen to constructive critique delivered in a kind manner. You offered me no critique. You merely called me a liar. I can list several Scriptures from the NT where we are told not to talk too much or repeat our prayers. I ask you to please prove to me that I'm spreading conspiracies. Instead of just name calling and pointing your finger, please prove it to me. Because every post I make, I list proof for everything I say. No, they are not mainstream media because the media has been compromised. I would bet I spend more time reading the Bible and talking to the Lord than most Christians. I am more than happy to answer to God for everything I do. In fact, I do that daily. Perhaps you are the one on a dangerous path. Like I said, this is not the place for you. Go follow the massive crowd where you belong. Again I forgive you and will pray for you.

  6. Anonymous person rather than tearing other people down perhaps you should consider prayer for them and offering words of encouragement. During these last days we the remnant need to keep the focus where it belongs on Jesus not on nitpicking another believers comments. Pam

  7. To "anonymous"-- you need to backup or accusations with facts. If you don't like what MaryLu says, then why are you even here? There are many of us who DO appreciate her ministry. You need to find someplace to vent other than her blog. Please leave.
