I've been studying the Noah account in the Bible as well as in the book of Jubilees and the Book of Jasher. I realize these last two books are not affirmed as Holy Scripture, but the Bible makes some reference to them and I have found nothing in them that contradicts the Bible. At least so far. Even so, I feel that in the case of Noah and the flood, they definitely add some details that are good to know.
Jasher.
Jasher tells us that Noah and his grandfather Methuselah both preached repentance and a returning to God to the "sons of men"
Speak ye, and proclaim to the sons of men, saying, Thus saith the Lord, return from your evil ways and forsake your works, and the Lord will repent of the evil that he declared to do to you, so that it shall not come to pass.
For thus saith the Lord, Behold I give you a period of one hundred and twenty years; if you will turn to me and forsake your evil ways, then will I also turn away from the evil which I told you, and it shall not exist, saith the Lord. Jasher 5:7-8
For thus saith the Lord, Behold I give you a period of one hundred and twenty years; if you will turn to me and forsake your evil ways, then will I also turn away from the evil which I told you, and it shall not exist, saith the Lord. Jasher 5:7-8
This gives a little more light to the 120 year statement in Genesis
And the Lord said, My spirit shall not always strive with man, for that he also is flesh: yet his days shall be an hundred and twenty years.
Genesis 6:3
Genesis 6:3
Anyway, as you know the people didn't listen to Noah and Methuselah and Methuselah finally died when Noah was 595. Methuselah was 960 when he died.
So the Lord commanded Noah to make the ark and it took him 5 years.
In his five hundred and ninety-fifth year Noah commenced to make the ark, and he made the ark in five years, as the Lord had commanded Jasher 5:33
Another interesting thing in Jasher was that the animals came to Noah as he sat by the door of the Ark. If the animal knelt before him, he was to allow them in the ark. But if they didn't kneel, he was not to allow them. Who knows if that's true, but I found it interesting that only the animals that bowed in humility were allowed in the Ark.
In the Genesis Account, it says that God told Noah and his family to go into the Ark Seven days before the rains started and seven days before God shut the door.
Come thou and all thy house into the ark; for thee have I seen righteous before me in this generation....For yet seven days, and I will cause it to rain upon the earth forty days and forty nights.... And they that went in, went in male and female of all flesh, as God had commanded him: and the Lord shut him in. Genesis 7
Jasher adds a little to this in that it explains what God did during those seven days from the time Noah entered the Ark to the time God shut the door.
And on that day, the Lord caused the whole earth to shake, and the sun darkened, and the foundations of the world raged, and the whole earth was moved violently, and the lightning flashed, and the thunder roared, and all the fountains in the earth were broken up, such as was not known to the inhabitants before; and God did this mighty act, in order to terrify the sons of men, that there might be no more evil upon earth.
And still the sons of men would not return from their evil ways, and they increased the anger of the Lord at that time, and did not even direct their hearts to all this Jasher 6:11-12
And still the sons of men would not return from their evil ways, and they increased the anger of the Lord at that time, and did not even direct their hearts to all this Jasher 6:11-12
Isn't it just like our God to give ONE LAST CHANCE to mankind?
Then the rain began. The Bible doesn't mention anything about the people left behind, but Jasher gives a very grievous description
And all the sons of men that were left upon the earth, became exhausted through evil on account of the rain, for the waters were coming more violently upon the earth, and the animals and beasts were still surrounding the ark.
And the sons of men assembled together, about seven hundred thousand men and women, and they came unto Noah to the ark.
And the sons of men assembled together, about seven hundred thousand men and women, and they came unto Noah to the ark.
And they called to Noah, saying, Open for us that we may come to thee in the ark--and wherefore shall we die?
And Noah, with a loud voice, answered them from the ark, saying, Have you not all rebelled against the Lord, and said that he does not exist? and therefore the Lord brought upon you this evil, to destroy and cut you off from the face of the earth. Is not this the thing that I spoke to you of one hundred and twenty years back, and you would not hearken to the voice of the Lord, and now do you desire to live upon earth? Jasher 6:17-19

It was too late for the people but they didn't give up.
And the sons of men approached in order to break into the ark, to come in on account of the rain, for they could not bear the rain upon them.
And the Lord sent all the beasts and animals that stood round the ark. And the beasts overpowered them and drove them from that place, and every man went his way and they again scattered themselves upon the face of the earth. Jasher 6:24-25

Jasher also talks about how the wind and rain and waves were so bad that Noah and his family and even the animals were terrified and cried out to the Lord, and he answered them and quieted the storm!
Jubilees
The account of Noah and the flood are exactly the same as we see in the Bible with a few additions such as including the fountains of the deep opening up along with the rain. Jubilees also talks about the Fallen Angels producing Nephilim (which is described in more detain in Enoch)
But as the days of Noah were, so shall also the coming of the Son of man be. For as in the days that were before the flood they were eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage, until the day that Noe entered into the ark, And knew not until the flood came, and took them all away; so shall also the coming of the Son of man be. Matthew 24:37-39 KJV
This is such a fascinating statement by Jesus Himself. I had always been taught that it only meant that people were very immoral and evil on the earth at the time of Noah and that they would be again before the rapture. But there is so much more to this statement. For one thing, there were Nephilim roaming the Earth in Noah's day. (Hybrid Angel/Man Beasts) that ended up consuming all the food and then turning to eat humans. These Nephilim genes and DNA had infected the human Gene pool all by Satan's design to stop the coming of the Messiah! But Noah was found perfect in his generation... not only a good man, but pure blooded! Do we have Nephilim roaming the Earth now? Yes. But that's not the topic of this post.
Yet, I believe there's even more to Jesus's statement regarding the timing of the rapture. First of all notice that people will be eating, drinking, marrying and giving in marriage and won't have a clue when disaster strikes. That does not sound like the rapture will occur either in the middle or the end of the Tribulation when people will be enduring many disasters.
In the account of Noah and the flood in the Bible, Jasher and Jubliees, specific dates are given. Do you ever wonder why God is so very specific with certain dates in the Bible. What are they there for? What difference does it make whether Noah entered the Ark on the 10th Day of the 2nd month or that it began to rain on the 17th day of that month or that the Ark landed on Mount Ararat (meaning is Reverse the Curse) on the 17th day of the 7th month? Maybe we should pay more attention to Jesus's words about the "days of Noah".
This has ended up being a long post, so I'll close with this thought. Could these dates coincide with possible dates for the church to enter the Ark? For God's remnant Bride to enter the Ark for 7 days before God shuts the door and we are taken up to be with Him?
Here are the dates from Jasher and The Bible. The Bible doesn't tell us when Noah enters the Ark but it does say it was 7 days before God shuts the door. Jasher seems to indicate it was 16 days before. Either way, both agree when the rain starts.
Noah Enters the Ark = Month 2, Day 1
God shuts the door and the rain and flood beings = Month 2, Day 17
When are these dates this year? We have 2 Calendars to look at. One is the traditional one the Jews use and the other is one that scholars have devised based on Scripture.
Jewish Calendar
- Month 2, Day 1 = May 8-9
- Month 2, Day 17 = May 25
Torah Calendar
- Month 2, Day 1 = April 9 (This is interesting because this is the first day of the new year under the Jewish Calendar and also the date of the Great Solar Eclipse crossing the US)
- Month 2, Day 17 = April 25 (This is Passover in the Jewish Calendar)
Which, if any of these calendars is correct, I have no idea, but it's something to consider If Jesus meant us to be looking for these dates in the Noah account as they pertain to the rapture, then perhaps we should be aware. If you read His statement in context, the very next Scripture is describing the rapture! I'm not setting a date. I'm just saying that we should be prepared and watchful. And it's okay to get excited too!
Be about your Father's business. If we will, indeed, have 7 days after we enter the Ark (in God's protection, but yet still here) then think about who you will reach out to. The world will be in utter chaos, but we may have 7 days to talk to our lost loved ones and friends and get them on the Ark with us! Isn't that just like God? Whether we leave this spring or not, time is short. Allow the Holy Spirit to lead you daily as to what He wants you to do. We all have jobs to do. Be faithful until the end and you will receive a Crown of Righteousness!
Henceforth there is laid up for me a crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge, shall give me at that day: and not to me only, but unto all them also that love his appearing. 2 Timothy 4:8

Thanks!
ReplyDeleteMost welcome. God Bless!
DeleteWhile I like the thought of people having a seven day “second chance”, how do you reconcile that with “like a thief in the night”? (1 Thess. 5:2-3.)
ReplyDeleteI think the rapture has to be a quick “great disappearance “ so people will be afraid and either turn to God or the antichrist as you have said before.
Maybe I misunderstood this whole post.
Also, isn’t the eclipse on April 8?
Sorry to question you but this is important stuff. Blessings!
Bev H
I don't mind questions at all, Bev! I don't have all the answers, but remember that the rapture occurs as a thief in the night to the world, but not to those of us who know Jesus and who are going. (1 Thess 5:4) If God gives us a few days of warning and we are able to bring in a few more souls, I don't think that would go against Scripture. To most of the world, it will be a sudden event. I do hope and pray that we do have a short time to warn those we love. And you're right about the eclipse.. it is on April 8th... still, very cool that the first day of the Jewish New year is on the very next day! Blessings!
DeleteOk that sounds reasonable! Also, April 8 is the LAST day of the Jewish year! Very interesting!

Greeting Precious Sister of our Beloved Lord,
ReplyDeleteYes this is all so interesting, and I love the possibilities ! Your so smart MaryLu, I struggle with time's and dates like this. So glad I have a Sister who keeps us in the know.
May the Lord bless your due diligence :)
I'm not so good with dates either, Joe, but the Lord had me studying the days of Noah for some reason, so I did a deep dive! Blessings!
DeleteI've taken a few days to process all this, especially the accounts of the 700,000 in Jasper. It says they were scattered. That makes so much more sense as so many ancient people have a flood story. So I guess they didn't all die.
ReplyDeleteI feel like I'm in this calm before the storm, but I continue to see 11s everywhere and all day. Chaos is coming. I pray you are right, and we will have those 7 days of protection to tell others of Jesus, but if the door is shut, the ones who recieve Jesus will probably have to wait until middle of tribulation????

Also, there were 7 pairs of animals that Noah welcomed in. 😀 the seven churches! ♥️
DeleteYes, I'm not saying all this is accurate.. just gave me something to consider. Like you, I'd love to have those seven days! But it's up to the Lord. I do believe there may be another rapture in the middle of the tribulation.. but I don't know for sure. So, yes, I'm hoping those left behind will have another chance before things get really nasty. Like you, I feel like the world is going to explode at any minute. AH.. yes 7 pairs of animals! There's another rapture connection! Blessings Katy!
DeleteHello I was wondering where you have listed for me to tell someone or explain more on the reasoning behind the pre trib rapture? I have a friend who is not believing that and I remembered reading about but cannot find where you started it very well and clearly. Thankyou so much for all you do for the kingdom and I truly appreciate you in a Christ, April
ReplyDeleteHi April, Here's 3 of my articles I found on the subject. I hope they can help your friend realize the truth. https://crossandcutlass.blogspot.com/2023/08/was-pre-trib-rapture-made-up-by-john.html
