The Answer to Receiving Every Promise in Scripture!

I've read through the Bible innumerous times since I got saved in my 30s. I don't say that to brag, but only by way of impressing upon you this single truth I've learned by the grace of the Holy Spirit. Throughout Scripture, both Old and New Testaments, we see many of God's promises to His people. Here's a list I've compiled:
  • Provision - Food, shelter, clothing, money,
  • Protection - Against enemies physical and Spiritual
  • Salvation - Life in Eternity in a Paradise beyond our comprehension
  • Salvation for children and grandchildren
  • Wisdom, knowledge, discernment for all of life's decisions
  • Healing - both physical and spiritual
  • Companionship and Comfort
  • Adoption into the Family of God
  • Loved, truly, unconditionally loved and cherished
  • ALL needs met
  • Everything Working out for Good!
If you spoke to any person on Earth (saved or unsaved) and asked them what were the most important things in life, their ultimate needs, most would say, provision health, family, love and protection, right? That's what human on Earth strives for. But ALL these things are offered freely to us and promised us in Scripture.

And They are all found in the person Jesus Christ! Not just in knowing about Him or even just believing in Him or in confessing Him or praying to Him. It's about having a deep abiding intimate personal relationship with Him. That's what the totality of Christianity boils down to and the only way to receive all the promises God has laid before us. It's so simple and yet so hard to do for so many. Or perhaps they've not been taught correctly or they aren't reading the Scriptures for themselves. But I am convinced this is why so many Christians are not living in victory!

You see, you can pray daily, listen to sermons, attend church five times a week, teach Bible Studies, give to the poor, read the Bible, and memorize Scripture. But if you don't truly have that intimacy with Jesus, then it's all for nothing.  Throughout the OLD and the NEW Testaments, God provided for His people over and over but only for those who truly Knew Him and followed Him. The thing is, if you truly have that intimacy with Jesus, you're going to WANT to follow Him, obey Him, and do your best to please Him.

You may say, but it's really all about Faith, faith in God's promises and His Word. Absolutely!  But how can you have faith in Someone you don't really know. And if you don't really know Him, how can you trust Him? It's been my experience that the more I come to know Jesus personally, the more faith I have in Him and the more I trust His Word!

It's all about relationship! Check out these Scriptures below as proof.

Provision and salvation

Blessed is the man who fears the Lord,
Who delights greatly in His commandments.
His descendants will be mighty on earth;
The generation of the upright will be blessed.
Wealth and riches will be in his house,
And his righteousness endures forever. Psalm 112

But seek (aim at and strive after) first of all His kingdom and His righteousness (His way of doing and being right), and then all these things taken together will be given you besides  Matthew 6:33

The young lions lack food and suffer hunger, but they who seek (inquire of and require) the Lord [by right of their need and on the authority of His Word], none of them shall lack any beneficial thing. Psalm 34:10

For the Lord God is a Sun and Shield; the Lord bestows [present] grace and favor and [future] glory (honor, splendor, and heavenly bliss)! No good thing will He withhold from those who walk uprightly.
O Lord of hosts, blessed (happy, fortunate, to be envied) is the man who trusts in You [leaning and believing on You, committing all and confidently looking to You, and that without fear or misgiving]
! Psalm 84:11-12

Protection

He who dwells in the secret place of the Most High shall remain stable and fixed under the shadow of the Almighty [Whose power no foe can withstand]. Psalm 91

Unconditional Love

For as the heavens are high above the earth, so great are His mercy and loving-kindness toward those who reverently and worshipfully fear Him.
As far as the east is from the west, so far has He removed our transgressions from us.
As a father loves and pities his children, so the Lord loves and pities those who fear Him [with reverence, worship, and awe].
Psalm 103:11-13

Salvation for Children

But the mercy and loving-kindness of the Lord are from everlasting to everlasting upon those who reverently and worshipfully fear Him, and His righteousness is to children’s children—
To such as keep His covenant [hearing, receiving, loving, and obeying it] and to those who [earnestly] remember His commandments to do them [imprinting them on their hearts].
17-18 Psalm 103

Wisdom

For I always pray to the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, that He may grant you a spirit of wisdom and revelation [of insight into mysteries and secrets] in the [deep and intimate] knowledge of Him, Ephesians 1:17

In Him all the treasures of [divine] wisdom (comprehensive insight into the ways and purposes of God) and [all the riches of spiritual] knowledge and enlightenment are stored up and lie hidden. Colossians 2:3

The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom; A good understanding have all those who do His commandments. His praise endures forever. Psalm 111:10

Healing

Moses was 120 years old when he died; his eye was not dim nor his natural force abated. Deuteronomy 34:7

He who Himself bore our sins in His own body on the tree, that we, having died to sins, might live for righteousness—by whose stripes you were healed. 1 Peter 2:24

The Lord sustains him on his sickbed; in his illness you restore him to full health. Psalm 41:3

"Praise the Lord, my soul, and forget not all his benefits— who forgives all your sins and heals all your diseases." Psalm 103:2-3

So many people ask me how to find God's will for their lives. Here are some verses!

And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God. Romans 12:2

The more time you spend with Jesus, the more your mind is renewed and the more your mind is renewed, the more you will know the will of God!

 Trust in the Lord, and do good;
Dwell in the land, and feed on His faithfulness.
Delight yourself also in the Lord,
And He shall give you the desires of your heart.
Commit your way to the Lord,
Trust also in Him,
And He shall bring it to pass. Psalm 37:3-5

What does it mean to delight in the Lord? To love Him, spend time with Him, enjoy Him, learn from Him, obey Him!  When you do that He will put HIS desires for your life on your heart and then as you trust in Him, He will bring it to pass.

This happened to me!  I was working as an engineer at IBM when I got saved and started following the Lord. As I grew closer to Him, one day He put a desire to write a novel on my heart. I had never written a novel before!  Never. I obeyed and now I have 33 novels published.

And the one that covers EVERYTHING

And we know that all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are the called according to His purpose. Romans 8:28

These are just a FEW of the dozens of Scriptures I could list here. You'll notice that in most of them, there is a condition for the benefits received.
  • You must love God
  • You must fear or reverence the Lord
  • You must obey His commandments
  • Keep His Covenant
  • Worship Him
  • Walk Uprightly
  • Dwell in the Secret Place of the Most High
  • Seek the Lord with all our heart
  • Trust in Him
  • Seek First the Kingdom of God and His Righteousness
All of the above things come out of

1. Being saved and filled with the Holy Spirit AND
2. Spending time with Jesus and having a close relationship with Him.

It's all about Jesus and knowing Him. The more you know Him, the more you trust Him at His Word and the more His blessings pour out on you. He is trustworthy and to be honest, He's quite smitten with you!

Now to Him Who, by His power that is at work within us, is able to carry out His purpose and do superabundantly, far over and above all that we dare ask or think [infinitely beyond our highest prayers, desires, thoughts, hopes, or dreams]— To Him be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations forever and ever. Amen (so be it).  Ephesians 3:19-21

  2. Great post that is both encouraging and convicting. Is it okay to print it as I want to read over it more thoroughly and often as well as highlight these verses in my Bible?
