Is God a Bully and a Tyrant?

Is God cruel? Is He a bully?

This is something the enemy loves to proclaim. It is written within many occultist documents, as well, making Satan out to be the good guy and God Almighty a tyrant. During the Tribulation, this lie will be spread over the entire Earth when the Antichrist announces that he is the benevolent savior, not God. By the way, there will be a Jesus present, but he will not be our Jesus.

But I digress. An atheist family member of mine loves to point out Scriptures from the Old Testament that, to him, prove that IF God exists, He is certainly a monster and not worth following. If you've read the Old Testament, you may already have some verses in mind that may allude to this. Without listing them here, I will simply say that many times God told the Israelite people to kill every man, woman, child in the nations and towns they attacked. This was during the time when God rescued the Hebrews from Egypt and brought them to the land of Israel to give it to them as their inheritance. The problem was, many other very wicked and pagan nations already inhabited that land.

As you read through the accounts of the Hebrews attacking these nations, in some cases, God only said to kill the men. Other times, everyone was to be slaughtered, even the animals. To a non-believer, I can see how some of these verses can present God as cruel. Why did He demand even the innocent children be killed?

This person addressed another issue. Often times in the Old Testament, when someone sinned, let's say committed adultery, that person was brought out and stoned to death. There were very tough consequences for sin. In one story when a man stole some gold from Jericho during the battle, which God expressly forbid it, he and his entire family and animals were brought out and killed. These are things that make us squirm in our present soft culture.

Let me present a parable that may help explain this:

You have a son. At his birth, you received a revelation about his life that would come to pass. You know it is 100 percent true. This son of yours will grow up and become a doctor. But not just any doctor. He will discover a cure to a raging disease of the future that if left unchecked, would kill 95% of Earth's population. In other words, your son will one day save billions of people. The problem is, there will be many obstacles, roadblocks, and temptations along the course of his life that could prevent him from becoming who he was meant to be.

Your job? To keep him safe, protect him from all the evil influences that could lead him astray, and train and discipline him to become the man he must be. So, what kind of life would your son have? He could not have a normal childhood. There would lots of rules and regulations, lots of dos and don'ts and lots of subsequent punishments for disobedience. Your son cannot lead a normal life. He cannot be allowed to associate with bad kids or taint himself with drugs or alcohol or illicit relationships. No. And not only that, his life would be scheduled, precise, disciplined with many hours spent in training and learning and growing. To make matters worse, your son is very rebellious.

Because of this you have to be a tough parent. And all the other kids and parents around you label you a tyrant and a monster because of it. But they don't understand that in your heart of hearts, you are trying to save billions of lives.

The parent is God. The Son is Israel. Because God loved the world so much, He had to come up with a plan to rescue people from Satan's clutches. The only way to do that was to birth His Son into the world and have Him pay the price that would save billions. But in order to do that, God had to find a people group, a nation, through which He could bring His Son. That nation had to be pure blooded. Their DNA had to be purely human. They had to be decent, righteous people who followed God's commands.

The problem was that all the nations that were in the land of Israel were extremely wicked. These nations worshiped Baal and Ashtoroth. The Bible glosses over who these "gods really were. These "gods" were demons who demanded child sacrifice. During the worship service, a baby was sacrificed, then the people drank the blood and afterward engaged in huge sex orgies. Sorry to be graphic. These nations were extremely wicked, and God knew that if Israel mingled with them, Israel would become so corrupt, that He couldn't bring His Son into the world through them.

Then, add to that, the Scriptures clearly say that some of these nations were descendants of the Giants. They were Nephilim, the offspring of the fallen angels and human women. Their DNA was not human. IF Israel mated with any of them, the bloodline would be destroyed, and Jesus could not be born to anyone not human.

So, when God ordered that every man, woman, and child was to be killed, it was because every man, woman, and child had Nephilim DNA. When God allowed the women and children to live, it was because their blood was not tainted. When God's rules and commandments seemed harsh and the punishments over the top, it was because He had to purge all evil from the nation of Israel.

Satan knew God had chosen Israel for a purpose. It's possible he didn't completely understand God's intentions, but he knew that he had to defile Israel any way he could... by luring them away into idol worship and wickedness and changing their DNA.

It was God's job to stop him. That's why it seems like God is a cruel tyrant. When in truth, all He was doing was making it possible to save billions of people from hell.

God is love, and when you get to know Him, you begin to understand that everything He does is because of His love for mankind and for you and me.

  1. I'm currently reading about these battles to claim the Promised Land and yes, it is very uncomfortable and heartbreaking to read about the complete annihilation of men, women and children, but that's how our finite human mind and "feelings" are trained to process. But there was also a verse about how the Lord allowed the Assyrians (I believe) 400 years of grace because their evil was not yet completed before destroying them. Yes, these things sound as if God is mean, but there's a purpose for what He did. Who knows how many of these small children are now in heaven because they were killed BEFORE they could grow up and become wicked. I keep reminding myself that His thoughts and ways are higher than mine.

    1. Yes, Amy, It's very hard for us in our current civilization to wrap our heads around killing children.. but God knew what He was doing. And you're absolutely right! Those kids are in heaven now, a far better life than they could ever have had here. Also.. as you said, God did give these nations many years to repent and turn to Him. He has a lot more patience than I do! I know when we get to heaven, we will understand all these things far better than we do here. Blessings!

  2. Greetings Holy Messenger of God,

For the parable you presented, I just recently read how Jesus could very well fit in the son’s place. It started when God confronted Satan over his misleading Adam and Eve into sin, and God stated that there will be one known as the “Head Crusher” who will one day vanquish Satan once and for all. Panicked, Satan sought to do whatever it took to ensure that did not happen, first by having Cain kill Abel to halt the lineage, but Adam and Eve later had Seth, whose lineage later saw the birth of Christ like 1500 years later. Satan’s second attempt was through King Herod’s killing of babies under 2, but an angel warned Joseph to flee to Egypt with Mary and Jesus to escape the rampage, and they later returned to Jerusalem after Herod died. The third attempt was when Satan seemingly won with the crucifixion of Christ, but Jesus’s resurrection showed that God had planned it and therefore Satan was still unsuccessful. Now in the current generation, Satan is striving again to destroy humanity, particularly the Jewish people and Israel, to make Himself the all-powerful entity higher than God, but God has already planned out the Tribulation, the binding of Satan during the Millennium, and ultimately the casting into the Lake of Fire where Satan officially meets his fate. Isn’t this the whole story of how everything began and came to be now?

Even though God may be made to seem like a bully or a tyrant, should we think of how Joseph was betrayed by His brothers and sold into slavery in Egypt, where he was imprisoned after being falsely accused of trying to assault his superior’s wife? I always remember Joseph said to his brothers when they reunited that “you meant evil against me, but God meant it for good.” I am inclined to think like that whenever going through some difficulties, but would this be proof the Holy Spirit dwells in me with this kind of mindset?

There was something I came across that I am wondering about. I know Scripture does not specifically hint this, but it is something that piqued my curiosity. It stated that post-Rapture is when the Seals will be broken and the resulting judgments will befall the Earth, but this is before the actual Tribulation starts and when it does begin, the Trumpets will take place. I thought that they will all have to take place during the seven years as part of God’s judgment during this time, so I am skeptical to believe this may be the case. I think I heard that the Bowls will be during the Ten Days of Awe before the Tribulation ends, but I am not sure.
Also I read yesterday that the UAE is set to declare war on Iran and “will lead an Arab coalition to overthrow the Iranian regime within 24 hours.” That was yesterday at 8:40 AM per a post on X, but as of now, there has not been an update. I wonder if it may be another diversion from what is really going on?

Have a blessed day and stay faithful in the Lord. Blessings and Come Quickly Lord Jesus!

    1. Yes, absolutely! All those things you listed from the garden until now, Satan's one goal has been to kill steal and destroy what God has made and especially those of us in His image. But his fate has already been determined and is fast coming upon him.
Yes! I hear the Holy Spirit within you! He has shown you that whatever struggles you have endured, whatever struggles you now endure.... the devil may have meant for harm but God turns them out for good. It helps us forgive those who do us harm.

It is my personal belief that the seals can only open when the Tribulation starts. The reason is that the first seal sends out the AC with his Daniel covenant. We will be gone by then. The trumpets may or may not all be blown in the Great Tribulation.. the last 3.5 years. but as to the timing of these things, the Bible does not specify.
And yes, I also am one to believe that the bowls of wrath are poured out at the end of the Tribulation during the days of Awe. But time will tell.. and we probably won't care because we will be with Jesus.
Most everything that is happening right now is a diversion. I'm getting tired of the saber rattling. I don't believe much of what I hear. So watch and pray and cling to Jesus!

  3. Hello Sister in Christ,

Sometimes I feel tempted to think this way such as when I am going through some difficult hardships, I wonder if God may be upset at me for committing some sin or making a mistake. But then I remember Jeremiah 29:11 and Genesis 50:20, which mention God’s plan for a hope and future and Joseph’s forgiving his brothers for persecuting him. I once read that the prominent people of the Bible such as Abraham, Moses, David, Rahab, and Paul all committed various sins but God used them to fulfill His ultimate plan.

I read that the Strait of Hormuz is now the battlefield for the war with Iran considering that ships and tankers are being attacked. Do you feel this is another sign of how close we are to leaving and that the war will only worsen no matter how much effort is made towards “ceasefires?”

I realized that during the first two weeks of June with the Pride Event in Israel during the first week and the World Cup and Disclosure Day movie coming out the following week, that perhaps they mean we may be close to leaving based on our holy analysis of them, Also considering how May is the final month of Spring before Summer.

Have a great day Sister and Peace and Blessings from a Brother in Christ.

    1. Greetings, Brother. Yes, we all struggle... we all sin... but as long as we repent and keep our relationship with Jesus moving forward, HE forgives and forgets. I've often struggled with thinking God is mad at me. Especially when I'm mad at myself! But God is not like that. He understands our weaknesses. He loves us more than we can realize. He wants only the best for us.. Now, if we persist in willful sin... He still loves us, but He will chastise us... in order to bring us back. Never think He is angry. He loves you, Brother.. and He only wants your heart to lean toward Him.
Yes, this Hormuz issues is very volatile. Not only is it causing the price of oil to skyrocket, but it will probably be the kick off event for WW3. And yes, June has some interesting events. We can only watch and pray! But I sense it is soon. Blessings!
