Divide Jerusalem?

This week, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu visited our new president in order to convince him to continue the United States' support of Israel and to impress upon him the real danger posed by a nuclear Iran. From what little I saw of a press conference where both Obama and Netanyahu were present, it didn't go well.

Now there are reports coming out of that meeting that Obama intends to propose that Jerusalem be divided in a speech he plans on giving in Cairo on June 4th. This would be the WORST possible thing to do.

According to Joel Rosenberg, "Dividing Jerusalem would trigger an apocalyptic war in the Middle East the likes of which the region has never seen."

If Obama thinks giving the Palestinians more land and part of Jerusalem will bring peace, he needs to look at recent history. Every single "land for peace", deal from the Camp David agreement and the withdrawl of Israeli troops from Southern Lebanon in 2000 to the 2005 withdrawal from the Gaza strip have triggered more war, not peace.

Why do we not learn from history?

Why do our leaders not understand that it is the goal of radical Islam to WIPE Israel from the map? What astounds me even more is they are not even trying to hide that fact. Their leaders have stated it quite plainly.

Another crucial question to ask yourself,
Why is such a tiny country in the headlines each night? For the answer, read Zechariah 12

This is the word of the LORD concerning Israel. The LORD, who stretches out the heavens, who lays the foundation of the earth, and who forms the spirit of man within him, declares: "I am going to make Jerusalem a cup that sends all the surrounding peoples reeling. Judah will be besieged as well as Jerusalem. On that day, when all the nations of the earth are gathered against her, I will make Jerusalem an immovable rock for all the nations. All who try to move it will injure themselves

I intend to stand strong with Israel. God has not forgotten his chosen people, and they play a very important role in these last days. The Bible is clear that God loves Israel and will bless those who bless her and curse those who curse her.

If you agree, you may be interested in joining Joel Rosenberg's flash updates as I have. When you sign up, you'll get news flashes sent to you through your email that will keep you informed on what is going on in Israel and give you specific things to pray for.

Pray for the peace of Jerusalem: May they prosper who love you Psalm 122:6

  1. I listened to this radio program on on my local afr station, and I think they actually talked about on of Rosenberg's books, Epicenter. Ever since I heard about it, I've been more aware of how crucial it is that we stand with Israel. It is important that at least us Christians, if not all America, supports them. Thanks for this post, MaryLu

  2. Historically it seems to me that we all are slow learners--we sin,ask forgiveness, sin again,repeatedly---interestingly scripture tells us the story of Israel wandering in the wilderness--seeing God's marvelous care of them, forgetting almost immediately---even crying to go back to Egypt where they had wonderful food---I believe that is a picture of all of us--we see Gods care--we forget--we cry and moan that he has forgotten us and brought us to the 'dessert' to die.
Good Christians let us all remember that tho it often seems that men are in control---in reality and the witness of God's own word--It is our God who is in control---Remember when Jesus spoke of the tower of Salome.
