  3. Wow, that cannon is huge! I never realized they were quite that big. I can't tell from the picture - is the ship actually docked in the harbor, or on supports on the land?

  4. Thanks for your comments, Ladies. Yes, the cannon is huge, huh? The ship is docked in the water, not on land. I spend four hours on that ship studying every nock and cranny. It was so much fun!

  5. Thank you for sharing this with us MaryLu. I bet you had so much fun with this. I love these pictures. Do you get to see all these ships because you are an author? Do you choose to research this way or do you have to? :) I wish i could go with ya! What fun!
    + God Bless you!

  6. Tori, anyone can tour these tall ships. They are docked all over the country. There are several in Boston and San Diego, and I know a bunch of them actually sail around on tour and stop at different ports. This one in the picture is permanently docked in Baltimore. I choose to do my research this way. It's far better to see things in person, hear the sounds, smell the smells, touch things... to get the feel for the atmosphere my characters ar in. I wish you could go with me too! maybe next time.

  7. Ha ha! I love the picture with the cannon! That looks like so much fun! I took some of your earlier advice in reading the Bible out loud at night time. So I have been doing that for a while, and it is very helpful. I just open to random pages, yet they always seem to be the right ones! Thanks for the good advice!
God bless you and your family,
    -Abigail

  8. I toured the Constitution a few years ago. It was so cool! My brothers and I took pictures on and around that cannon, too. : ) It's funny that you just posted this, because a few weeks ago I was telling my dad how I wanted to go there again this summer. It looks like you had plenty of fun!
I went to a really cool star-shaped fort once, and I'm thinking it was Fort McHenry, but I'm not sure. Is that the one you went to?

  9. Oh, Abigail, I'm so glad to hear about your Bible reading at night! Yes, the Lord knows exactly what we need to hear and will often lead us right to that verse. His Word is so powerful!
Sarah, yes, the star-shaped fort is Fort McHenry. That's where I went. It was so awesome. Each year around Sept 12, they have a War of 1812 reenactment. If you go, try to make that. It's worth it.

  10. Thanks for that info MaryLu. Yeah, I can see why you would want to research that way. It does definitely help get the feel of things. That would be so awesome if I got to tour a ship with you! At one point I got to meet my favorite author. :) God Bless!

  12. Hi,

My husband's brother's wife was thinking for something for our father in law for his 60th birthday.
It might be great to see a War of 1812 reenactmet.

  13. MaryLu,
Do you think that it would be a nice gift for a father in law. He loves history and historic places. I have never been in Baltimore.

  14. Anna, yes, I think it would be a great gift for your Father in law. You'll have to contact the Baltimore Visitor center and find out if they're having one this year. It will be sometime around Sept 11th or 12th. I hope he gets to go! They have fireworks at the end. Very cool
