I think my cat has the mange!

See all her bald spots!  She has a mohawk. LOL Poor little Katie Cat.  She's going to the vet today.

  1. It might be allergies...one of my cats started pulling his hair out and at first I thought it was fleas. But after treating him for fleas he kept doing it so I took him to the vet and now I have to give him allergy shots! I had never heard of such a thing but it seems to be working. His hair hasn't grown back yet but I'm sure it takes a while but I can tell he feels so much better. Hope your kitty is okay.

  2. Yes, that's what we are thinking, Angie. We just don't know what she's allergic to. It's not fleas or ticks because we give her Revolutions. Oh well.. will see what the Vet says. Thanks

  3. So sorry to hear about your cat, MaryLu. I will be praying for her. She is beautiful. Pets really steal a piece of our hearts, don't they? *hugs* Keep us informed.

  5. Well, my poor baby ended up being allergic to so many things and one of them was fleas but he is apparently also allergic to some chemical that kills fleas so I can only use Revolution on him cause he's not allergic to it. If your lucky you might just find out your cat needs to change the food he eats. Hopefully your kitty won't be allergic to as much as mine. The amount of stuff Leo is allergic to is crazy. Poor baby had to be miserable itching all the time. Praying all goes well with you kitty.

    "Afternoon, MaryLu."
Ohhhh .... poor little Katie cat ! We had a cat once, all black ... and suddenly, she started licking like crazy ! Most of the fur on her body came out ... and she truly, looked like a scalped chicken !!! (Right down to bare skin !!!) It looked terrible !!!
She was a very nervous, high-strung, and jumpy cat ...and after a visit to the Vet, we thought it was due to her not getting outside as much, in the winter months (which caused her great stress). And, nerves. She just wouldn't stop licking, and was about driving herself crazy !!! (She had to go on some kind of a hormone-related pill, to help her to 'chill and calm down some', and to help her leave the fur alone !)
She was a mess for months, until the fur grew back in again.
Hope Katie cat makes out okay at the Vets, and, that they are able to locate and treat the problem.
    Take care, and, God Bless,
    In Him, Brenda Hurley

  7. Angie, wow, I hope Katie doesn't have all those allergies! I don't think I could afford the medicine!

Brenda, that's interesting. all because of nerves. Well, Katie is a bit shy and jumpy. Maybe I should give her some grog. LOL.

  8. Thanks for asking about Petey. He is doing great. He doesn't have much of a scar left from the stitches. We keep a close watch on what he eats now. It's like having a toddler in the house. Tiring, yet nice.

  9. I'm so glad to hear Petey is doing well!! Praise God.
Well, I'm back from the Vet. They think it's an allergy so they gave her an anti-inflamatory shot and more Revolutions. If it doesn't clear up in a couple months, they will start testing her food. Sigh.

  10. She looks dentical to my Misty who had the same hair loss problem. It was a food allergy, I switched to Iams and she's doing great.

  11. Glad to hear that it doesn't sound like anything serious.

My poochie had the exact same problem...turns out he's allergic to corn. Unfortunately, almost *all* dog food has corn in it, so the only kind he can eat is Iams lamb & rice. He still has flare-ups because dob biscuits have some corn, though.

  12. Thanks JoyAnne and Sapphire.. I need to check the ingredients on her food. I buy her Science Diet Natural so it should be good, but maybe it is corn. Hmm.. Sounds like Iams is a good brand. Trouble is, I have 3 cats and they don't like change. LOL
