To help celebrate the grand event, I'm hosting a party here on my blog each Friday in August where I will post something about the characters or story which will hopefully get you excited about the book!
I'm also giving away the following:
- Four Signed Paperbacks of She Walks in Power
- Two E-copies of She Walks in Power
- The grand prize pictured below. A set of Knight in Shining Armor Book Ends!
I will choose all the winners and post their names on September 2nd.
Last week, we learned a little bit about the heroine of the story, Alexia D'Clere. Today we are going to learn about the hero, Ronar LePeine. I think you're going to love him!
Ronar LePeine - Hero
Along with two of his fellow knights, the King sends Ronar on a mission of great importance--find and bring back the Spear of Destiny, no matter the cost. Duty-bound to God and King, nothing and NO ONE will dissuade Ronar from his path.
Good Qualities Chivalrous, tenacious, principled, resolute, idealistic, noble, loyal, relentless, austere, demanding, God-loving
Bad Qualities: Stubborn, demanding, merciless, self-righteous, critical, suspicious
Quirks: Ronar carries around a small statue of St. Jude, the patron saint of hopeless causes, in the hope that God will be merciful to his own hopeless cause.
He has a scar that slices through his right eyebrow
He is terrified of spiders!

Please leave a comment and answer the following question:
What do you most admire about Ronar and what do you least admire?
Leave your email address in the comment and I will enter you to win one of the seven prizes! (USA and Canada only, except for E-books. You can only enter once each Friday) I will announce all winners on September 2nd!
Tune in next week for a fan favorite "Guess what the character will say next"
Have a great weekend!
.
I love Ronar! His best quality for me would have to be his loyalty. And his worst? Hmmm.....I guess his stubbornness. All in all, I really like him.
ReplyDeleteI love his loyalty and principled, God-loving nature, but I don't fancy his being austere and demanding. A good sense of humor now and then wouldn't hurt.:) However, I realize that this self-imposed seriousness is probably due to the guilt that he feels over his past mistakes. Also his self-righteousness points to legalism which is not okay. But anyway, I root for the guy.:)
ReplyDeleteddoru_05(at)yahoo(dot)com
My favorite, is that he loves God, and is tenacious. Least admire, his self-righteousness. I'm looking forward to reading more about Ronar and Alexia! (trishrobertson at mac dot com)
ReplyDeleteI'm pretty sure I like all of Ronar's good qualities and I'm not really into his being merciless and self-righteous. Speaking of spiders I'm pretty sure Ronar would not like our house because there seems to be spiders everywhere. Daddy long legs creeping our bathroom, spiders on our ceiling looking like they are gonna jump on whoever passes by and they all move freakishly fast. It's a good thing I'm not afraid of spiders, they only make me scream when they surprise me. fancynoodle(at)yahoo(dot)ca
ReplyDeleteWell hello there, Sir Ronar! Best qualities: God-loving, chivalrous, and noble. Bad quality: self-righteous. Definitely looking forward to learning more about him, and I'd be happy to kill any spiders that cross his path - wink! wink! Thanks for the opportunity to win.
ReplyDeleteaimmesser@yahoo.com
Oh MaryLu! I can't wait to read this one! I like Ronar's love of God for sure. That should have come at the start of the list for me. I least admire the fact that he is merciless. I'm not sure how he can be merciless and God loving, but who of us doesn't have issues being who God wants us to be? I can't wait to see how this all works out for him.
ReplyDeleteFriday 12th,
ReplyDelete"Morning, MaryLu ... and gals."
I can already tell ... this newest novel is going to be yet another winner !!!
Hmmmm ... from Ronar, I most admire that he is God-loving, and all of his good qualities ... except for 'demanding'. I suppose 'demanding' can be okay -- "IF" it is used in the right way (but for today, we certainly don't esteem 'demanding' as a good thing).
I least admire the bad qualities ... but realistically speaking, we all face at the least, 'some' of those features in our own selves. So I do appreciate the fact, that he is "indeed human" (therefore bearing faults) !!!
Would love to be entered into the draw for this book ... can hardly wait !
Thanks so much for sharing.
Take care, and, God Bless, In Him, Brenda

Ronar sounds like a great hero. I admire the fact he wants to honor God and king. He is chivalrous makes him a gentleman. I love that!!
ReplyDeleteOoops, for got my email: danajeweler@ymail.com
ReplyDeleteI love his convictions- he's on a mission to right his wrongs- and the thing I like least- stubbornness, he needs to be open to grace lol, hopefully that won't get in the way. Can't wait for this story! SOOOO happy to see a Robinhood type story from you! I'm sure it's going to be spectacular!
ReplyDeleteSo handsome! =D Chivalrous, God-loving and loyal are my favorite good qualities. Merciless strikes me as his worst quality. Stubbornness I've always felt can be a good quality as well, if used and channeled with the right amount of discipline. His fear of spiders I can totally understand! I can literally hear and feel my own heart pound inside my chest at the mere sight of one. Sometimes even a dead spider will give me cause for alarm...
ReplyDeleteTruly I cannot wait to read your new medievals! I love the medieval era. One of these days you oughta write a medieval seafaring adventure and combine both worlds. Thanks for another neat giveaway! God Bless!

God-loving and loyal stand out for me. The not so good qualities would be -self righteous .and demanding. He sure is a handsome one and cannot wait to read and go down the road of excitement you have created for us. I am sure if they had. 10 star rating I would give it a 10.

ReplyDeleteThat hero sounds dreamy and perfectly flawed! Loving the sound of him.
ReplyDeletedianemestrella at gmail dot com
Ronar sounds like an interesting hero. I admire most the he is God-loving. I admire least that he is self-righteous.
ReplyDeleteMy email address is eileen.byron73(at)gmail (dot) com.
ReplyDeleteI like that Ronar is loyal to God and is a God-loving man. I don't like his stubbornness! I can't wait to read this one, and thank you for the giveaway, MaryLu!!
ReplyDeletejacsmi75 at gmail dot com
I admire that he is trying to earn penance for past sins and I least admire that he is self-righteous, and critical. Thanks and My email is iamabho (at) gmail (.) com
ReplyDeleteQualities I admire: God-Loving, Loyal, Relentless
ReplyDeleteQualities I dislike: Merciless, Demanding, Suspicious
Thanks for entering me in the contest! I am eager to read this book!
I admire that Ronar is terrified of spiders. I can relate and also his love for God! I don't like that he is merciless because that is one of the traits of the Heavenly Father we all should imitate.
ReplyDeleteKimberkay4@yahoo.com
DeleteI love that Ronar is God loving and chivalrous! Really great qualities in a man! And my least favorite characteristic would have to be that he's merciless. I think all men should know when to have mercy. It is after all one of God's great attributes. kutlesswjam2011(at)gmail(dot)com
ReplyDeleteThanks for this description of Ronar, Marylu! I would say I really like that he is God loving and chivalrous ,and the qualities I like least is his being demanding and merciless. All in all though he is a great multi faceted character. Thanks again for inventing all of them!
ReplyDeleteFavorite quality is God-loving--that can cover a lot of bad qualities if he follows his calling. Merciless sounds tough but counteracted against God-loving might work. Thanks for the insight into Ronar.
ReplyDeleteI like that Ronar is principled and I hope that his merciless will change in the course of his growth. Thanks for the introduction to Ronar and for the giveaway!
ReplyDeletemomrain(AT)aol(DOT)com
His loyalty would be highly valued and is a trait I can relate to well. Despite his being self righteous and having a critical spirit I believe that his caring the statue of a saint for hopeless causes shows that he realizes how hopeless he himself is and tries to focus on others to avoid addressing his own failings and need. I'm confident that with time and through circumstance he will learn to address his own weaknesses and gain strength along with wisdom from the only true source Christ Jesus. Learning to have relationship and draw not from our ourself but from God, who is the only one who can truly help us overcome ourselves and enable us to be loving to others, takes time and prayer through a lot of ups and downs in life.
ReplyDeleteVbjune (AT) gmail (DOT) com
Ronar sounds like a very interesting character,I hope his fear of spiders will come into play in the book that would make an interesting situation!
ReplyDeletebellavictoria108@gmail.com
That is a neat picture! He looks fierce. I don't like spiders either!
ReplyDeletegenuinegagirl gmail
I love his determination and that nothing will stand in his way. The fact that he is principled, loyal and loves God makes him a real catch! However, I guess a negative would be that he is demanding and critical, but we all have our weaknesses!
ReplyDeletekellyw622@gmail.com
I do love your books! Great book cover, I can't wait to read it!!! I really like Ronar. I most admire His determination and least admire his mercilousness.
ReplyDeleteemilybrookegriffin@yahoo.com
What I like: Chivalrous & God-loving.
ReplyDeleteWhat I don't like: Demanding, Merciless and Self-righteous.
It's funny that this brave warrior is terrified of spiders!
Thank you for the chance to win a copy of "She Walks in Power" MaryLu!
teamob4 (at) gmail (dot) com
I think it is marvelous that he is a Knight and is afraid of spiders. Thank you Captain for making these characters I appreciate so much what you do.
ReplyDeleteHe is honorable to a fault, he will do whatever it takes to do what he is told but is it the right thing.
ReplyDeleteI least admire his fraidy cat issue of spiders! He's a man's man and can't squash a spider? I know you've made it a funny trait within the story! I love that he's austere, you don't hear that much. Can't wait to read this time period!
ReplyDeleteLove that Ronar isn't perfect with wealth, good-looks, and having a priviledge life. He is a hero with flaw.
ReplyDeleteI admire Ronar's persistent spirit. I feel pity for his lack of Faith, he carries guilt unnecessarily. Looking forward to reading another of your wonderful books, MaryLu.
ReplyDeleteMaryLu, I excited to see this new book! I love your books and this is my favorite genre! Ronar sounds fascinating! I admire that he is God-loving, but mercilessness is cruel. It will be interesting to see how his life plays out in the book. Thanks for the opportunity to win a gift.
ReplyDeletemsbad@carolina.rr.com
That he is God loving and nothing and NO ONE will dissuade Ronar from his path!
ReplyDeletedkstevensne AToutlookDotCom
I love that Ronar is a God loving person with a loyal demeanor. His stubbornness is fall back though.

ReplyDeleteMaryLu, I am excited to read more of this fascinating Medieval story! I like that Ronar is God-loving and relentless. I'm interested to read how his weaknesses factor into the story. Thank you for introducing Ronar!
ReplyDeletepsalm103and138 at gmail dot com
Oh, this is great news. Just setting on the edge of seat in anticipation. dhancock49@gmail.com
ReplyDeleteOf course all the good qualities are admirable, but in some ways, I'm inclined not to condemn him for his bad qualities. As a historian, I've had to learn to understand the people of the past on their terms, not mine.
ReplyDeleteFor those of us who have never been in the military its too easy to judge the actions of men and women of war- but they have to make difficult choices in dificult- sometimes impossible- circumstances. Unless we've 'been there' what right do we really have to judge them? medievalgirl01@gmail.com
Thanks for the introduction to Ronar, MaryLu!! His qualities I most admire are, of course, God-loving - followed by principled and loyal. The ones I least admire: merciless, self-righteous, and critical. Thanks for the giveaway opportunity!!
ReplyDeleteLove, hugs, and prayers!!

DeleteWhat i admire about Ronar is his ability to be himself, staying true to who he is. What i least like about him is his stubborn streak he really needs to let that go. thanks for the contest.
ReplyDeletekintana002000@yahoo.com
Many times, it's the same attributes that are admirable that can also be one's greatest fault. Such as being relentless and resolute are great if they are focused on what is truly righteous, but if it prevents a person from seeing the truth it can lead to their downfall. Personally, I don't like that Ronar carries a statue of St. Jude. I feel like it is a superstitious habit that can prevent him from trusting in the Lord. tlhcoupon(at)hotmail(dot)com
ReplyDeleteWhat I admire most about Ronar is that he is God-loving and principled. He isn't easily swayed. However, self-righteousness and being suspicious is what I least admire about him. I am sure they will get him into some trouble. I find it amusing that he is scared of spiders
ReplyDeleteI forgot to leave my email....it is auntiegrace@email.com
ReplyDeleteI love that he is God loving and. Don't like that he is stubborn.
ReplyDeleteRonar Ronar Ronar! Sounds like a great Hero!
ReplyDeleteThe Good: that he's Chivalrous and God-loving.
The Bad: that he's suspicious and self-righteous...hmmm...
And the ugly....nah...doesn't sound ugly to me :) Sounds like a great read!! bhriv3116(at)gmail(dot)com
I like that he has principles and loves God.
ReplyDeleteI dislike that he is scared of spiders...not a very manly trait.
Thanks for the giveaway.
Chivalrous is always a great quality, merciless - not so much.
ReplyDeletemarypres(AT)gmail(DOT)com
I love that Ronar is God-loving, loyal and tenacious. I don't like that he is self-righteous and merciless. God showed us such mercy and we need to show it to others. Thanks for the giveaway! My email is eldora2193@comcast.net.
ReplyDeletePretty much love all his good qualities! And honestly, I don't have much of an issue with most of his bad qualities either ;) Other than being merciless - that's not so great!

ReplyDeleteI have read several of your other books and I'm looking foward to reading this one as well. I love that Ronar is God-fearing and that he's loyal. His worst qualities are that he's merciless and that he thinks that he can somehow earn penance for his past sins. keishabudges@gmail.com

ReplyDeleteThis series looks really good. I hope I win a paperback but most of all I hope you have great success with this series. Ronan is loyal, the king trusted him to complete the task. Being merciless and self-righteous is like a bomb getting ready to blow. Cindy cltbatdorf@gmail.com
ReplyDeleteHi Mary Lu,
ReplyDeleteThe cover of your new book is just beautiful, I would love to read this book in hard cover form.
My favorite about Ronan, is that he is God fearing man and the bad thing that I don't like about him is that he is high and all mighty and that he is the best.
Thank you for letting me enter your contest!
oh.hello.hiya@gmail.com
I like that he took his mission seriously.

ReplyDeleteOooh a giveaway! I think what I like most about Ronar is that he is God-loving and loyal. What I like the least about him is that he is stubborn and merciless. This book honestly sounds so amazing that I don't think I can wait until it's out! :) Thanks for the giveaway!
ReplyDeleteEmail: dkap07(at)gmail(dot)com
I admire that he loves God and is loyal. Not sure that "merciless" is something I'd want in my own hero. Thanks for entering me in your drawing!
ReplyDeleteRonar seems like someone you could relate to - who hasn't done something we don't think is forgiveable or we hang to the guilt and we are harder on ourselves and don't see God's grace clearly? His good qualities are great and I love it that he's afraid of spiders! Me, too! :) (karirscpl@gmail.com)
ReplyDeleteI think Ronar's best qualities for me are that he is principled and loyal. It can be hard trying to live up to an ideal. His worst qualities are definitely that he is self-righteous, merciless and critical. He definitely sounds human, though, so he's not perfect. Which is great, because we can always strive to improve. blueirishmoon at hotmail dot com
ReplyDeleteRonar sounds like an AWESOME hero! I like and admire all of his qualities, but I think the ones I like the most are that he is God-loving, principled, noble and loyal. The qualities I least admire are that he is merciless and self-righteous. So excited to read this new book, Mary Lu!!
ReplyDeletenj(dot)bossman(at)gmail(dot)com
I loved all of his good qualities, but mostly is loyalty and God loving spoke more to me. carrieswanson5@gmail.com
ReplyDeleteI love that he loves God and is loyal, but being self righteous is the quality I least like in people. TY for a chance to win this book.
ReplyDeleteI love that Ronar loves God and he is loyal. What I don't like is that he is merciless and self-righteous.
