Will 2021 Be the Fourth Watch of the Night?

Most of you have heard the story of Jesus walking on the water. It is found in Matthew 14, Mark 6, and John 6. Each version gives slightly different information, but I encourage you to read all three.

Basically, we learn by reading all three accounts that after Jesus preformed the miracle of feeding the Five Thousand men with 5 loaves of bread and 2 fish (probably more like 15 thousand people, including women and children) He instructed his Disciples to cross over the Sea of Galilee to the other side while He went up on the mountain to pray alone. So the Disciples get into a boat and cross the sea.

I really had never thought of this story as a rapture scenario but let's examine it a little.

Jesus tells His followers that He will meet them on the other side ( Jesus told us believers that we would see Him on the other side of eternity)

The Disciples get into the boat and a storm rises. Mind you, these are seasoned sailors and in each account we find them really struggling to survive. (Sounds like our lives here on earth, doesn't it? Filled with lots of storms and contrary winds)

In the Fourth Watch of the night, Jesus comes to them, walking on the water (Jesus will come to get us walking on the clouds in the rapture. Remember Scripture doesn't say He will land on earth. Only that He will receive us in the clouds!)

The Disciples thought He was a ghost and cried out for fear but Jesus comforted them and told them "Take courage, it is I; do not be afraid." (Jesus will call us up to Him in the rapture with a shout! 1 Thess 4:16)

Then the Disciples received Jesus into the boat and the storm left and in John's account, it says Then they willingly received Him into the boat, and immediately the boat was at the land where they were going.  In other words, they arrived at their destination right away with no more sailing! (Which is what will happen to us. We will meet Jesus in the clouds and bam! we will be escorted to heaven!)

Cool, eh?  So I was struck by the timing of this. When is the fourth watch? In Biblical days the forth watch started at 3 and ended at 6. In other words it was the very last part of the night just before dawn, the part of the night when it is most dark and when you're tired and it seems the night will never end!  Ever felt that way?

Also it's important to note that the Disciples were in a storm. Life wasn't easy. Bad things were happening. They feared for their lives. And the night was dragging on and on. Then Jesus shows up...

Let's look at the word for rapture in the Greek  harpazō
Here's what it means

To seize or carry off by force
To claim as one's own
To snatch out or away
To rescue from danger or destruction

In other words, the rapture is a rescue mission!  Just like Jesus did with the disciples in the storm. He rescued them when everything seemed to be against them...when they feared for their lives... when their world was caving in... at the very last minute, That's When Jesus Came!

I believe the rapture will happen just like that. Things will get worse and worse and it will seem like our very lives are in danger. We will start to wonder where Jesus is and how we are going to survive.

And then we will hear that shout "Come up here!"  And we will be rescued! So, don't be alarmed when things start to get worse. Don't fear. Just know that it means we are closer to being snatched out of here than we've ever been.

I believe 2021 will be the year of our rescue, the year of the Marriage of the Lamb. Why?

  • In my personal time with the Lord, I have heard the words "2021 will be the year of the rapture"
  • A pastor and prophet I trust (and I don't trust many) was told the same thing
  • A sister in Christ on my blog was told 2021 would be a year of promotion
  • In May 2021, Israel will be 73 years old and Jesus said the generation alive when Israel was born (1948) would not pass away until the entire Tribulation ended.  Average worldwide lifespan is 72.6.  Time is running out for Jesus's own prophecy to be fulfilled. I trust Him!
  • The condition of the world today with the Global Government on the rise, the state of men's hearts and character, immorality, earthquakes, chaos, violence, plagues.. do I need to go on?

We have more reasons to believe we will see our Savior soon then we've ever had. Don't believe me. Get alone with Jesus and ask Him. Let Him show you through personal revelation and His Word. Jesus is coming soon. Of that I have no doubt. In the meantime, our job is to do whatever He asks of us in order that more and more people will be saved!

Maranantha!

  1. Love this interpretation of when Jesus walked on the water to rescue the disciples! As I read the Scriptures, so many stand out (more and more often!) as possibly pointing toward the rapture/end times. Whether they were intended to do so or not, I find them encouraging. I, too, think (and hope) that we will get to leave for Home soon. I was very excited about it last year, and very recently I've been feeling discouraged, which oddly enough boosts my hopes because if there wasn't anything to look forward to in the near future, I doubt that the enemy would be working so hard to plant seeds of doubt and despair (if that makes sense). Maranatha!

    1. Thanks, Sarah! Yes, I believe there are many many passages in Scripture which are types, shadows, and or symbols of the rapture. The whole story is about a wedding.. the wedding of Jesus to His Bride (those who chose Him!) I, too, was disappointed about 2020, but that makes me realize we are even closer now. I truly believe this is the year! Hang in there!

  2. Thank you for your post. As always very encouraging! I also feel that 2021 will be the year of the Rapture. I know many Christians that feel this way. I wouldn't mind hearing the words "Come up here" today!! But until that time, there is more work to be done, more souls to be saved. Jesus, help us to be more bold for you!
    Blessings to you Marylou!

  3. Thank you for your encouraging words. After all that has happened, we need to hear what the Spirit says. We are tasked with being the Salt and the Light to a dark world that knows no hope. Sharing the Blessed Hope with all who have ears to hear. Maranatha!!
