Trials and Temptations?

  1. Greeting Precious Remnant of the Faithful,

This is another area I love to study. Well that sounds strange, right ? Who wants to talk about trials and suffering, meekness and weakness, troubles and sickness ?
In today's church you wont find many teaching this critical doctrine. It just doesnt sell very well. It doesnt draws crowds, it turns people away.

Yet every writer in the N.T. talks about trials we "must endure" if we really want to be Christ like.

Jesus said, if any would follow me, he must pick up his cross daily. What Jesus say's here is that, we need to humble ourselves when the Holy Spirit places someone in our path to share the Gospel with. Especially when we know that person will resist us, even those we love the most. But remembering they are not resisting us, but the Holy Spirit.
It means that when we get to work, and the person who cut me off to steal my parking space gets to the door before us, we should hurry around them to open the door for them.
It means that when the new guy at work, gets the promotion you've work 10 years to get, you submit to their un earned authority, and work hard for them, as unto the Lord.

I'm not boasting here, I fail all the tests I just listed, at times.. Yet we persevere in faith for the promises set before us.

One of my favorite scripts on this. 1 Peter 1:3 Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who according to His great mercy has caused us to be born again to a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead, 4to obtain an inheritance which is imperishable, undefiled, and will not fade away, reserved in heaven for you, 5who are protected by the power of God through faith for a salvation ready to be revealed in the last time. 6In this you greatly rejoice, even though now for a little while, if necessary, you have been distressed by various [b]trials, 7so that the [c]proof of your faith, being more precious than gold which perishes though tested by fire, may be found to result in praise, glory, and honor at the revelation of Jesus Christ; 8and though you have not seen Him, you love Him, and though you do not see Him now, but believe in Him, you greatly rejoice with joy inexpressible and [d]full of glory, 9obtaining as the outcome of your faith, the salvation of [e]your souls.

I think the key is to remember that this life is only our testing ground. Our true home is reserved in Heaven for us :)

    Peace in Chist Jesus
