Make Sure You are Worthy to Escape!

I found this old post on my blog that I never posted. It's a list of Scriptures that speak about being worthy of being called a follower of Jesus and of escaping His wrath to come.

First of all, let me say that NONE of us are worthy of anything. We are all wicked at heart, and it is only by Jesus's sacrifice on the cross and His atoning blood that makes us righteous IN HIM.  No one can get to heaven or to Father God, except through Him!

But unfortunately, that's where many Christians stop. They then go on to live their lives anyway they choose. Sure, they may go to church, read their Bible, even pray! (Some are even pastors!)  But if they haven't fully surrendered everything to Jesus, if they aren't walking in obedience to the best of their ability, if they haven't made Him Lord, and if they don't have a personal relationship with Him, then according to the Scriptures below, they are not worthy of Him. Don't take it from me. Take it from the Word of God!  These are NOT works. We can never work enough to be worthy of anything. This is all about a love relationship with Jesus!

I post this now because time is very very very short. (notice the 3 verys!) Soon the world will look very different than it does now. Choose this day whom you will serve. Jesus or Satan. There are no other choices. You may say you choose to serve no one but yourself. Then that is a choice for Satan, my friend.

The one who loves father or mother more than Me is not worthy of Me; and the one who loves son or daughter more than Me is not worthy of Me. And the one who does not take his cross and follow after Me is not worthy of Me. The one who has found his life will lose it, and the one who has lost his life on My account will find it. Matthew 10:37-39

Now the king was angry, and he sent his armies and destroyed those murderers and set their city on fire.  Then he said to his slaves, ‘The wedding feast is ready, but those who were invited were not worthy. So go to the main roads, and invite whomever you find there to the wedding feast.’ Matthew 22:7-9

Bear fruits that are deserving and consistent with repentance [that is, conduct worthy of a heart changed, a heart abhorring sin]. And do not begin to say to yourselves, We have Abraham as our father; for I tell you that God is able from these stones to raise up descendants for Abraham. Luke 3:8

But as for that seed in the good soil, these are the people who, hearing the Word, hold it fast in a just, noble, virtuous)and worthy heart, and steadily bring forth fruit with patience. Luke 8:15

Jesus said to them, “The sons of this age marry and the women are given in marriage, but those who are considered worthy to attain to that age and the resurrection from the dead, neither marry nor are given in marriage;  for they cannot even die anymore, for they are like angels, and are sons of God, being sons of the resurrection. Luke 20:34-36

Keep awake then and watch at all times be discreet, attentive, and ready, praying that you may have the full strength and ability and be accounted worthy to escape all these things taken together that will take place, and to stand in the presence of the Son of Man. Luke 21:36

But if one loves God truly with affectionate reverence, prompt obedience, and grateful recognition of His blessing, he is known by God, recognized as worthy of His intimacy and love, and he is owned by Him. 1 Corinthians 8:3

Therefore I, the prisoner of the Lord, urge you to walk in a manner worthy of the calling with which you have been called, Ephesians 4:1

so that you would walk in a manner worthy of the God who calls you into His own kingdom and glory. 1 Thess 2:12

As a result, we ourselves speak proudly of you among the churches of God for your perseverance and faith in the midst of all your persecutions and afflictions which you endure.  This is a plain indication of God’s righteous judgment so that you will be considered worthy of the kingdom of God, for which you indeed are suffering.  2 Thess 1:4-6

To this end also we pray for you always, that our God will consider you worthy of your calling, and fulfill every desire for goodness and the work of faith with power, 2 Thess 1:11

But you have a few people in Sardis who have not soiled their garments; and they will walk with Me in white, for they are worthy. Revelation 3:4

Have a fabulous week!  Watch and pray!
